Welcome to the Krusader Newsletter with news, views and
information about recent developments and ongoing issues in the
Krusader Project. Our aim is to inform of recent developments, give
a preview of upcoming features, and to let our loyal users have a
direct line to the Krusader Krew.
Krusader 1.70.1 released

At 17 july 2006 Krusader 1.70.1 was released [1].
This release fixes a security hole [2] and contains many fixes that have
been backported from CVS plus a new Turkish translation.
Distrowatch.com reports the first distro's that offer Krusader-1.70.1 [3]
other packages can be get from our download page [4] and
Krusader extensions can be download from kde-files.org [5].
With "klik:/krusader-latest" Klik provides krusader 1.70.0 [6].

Distrowatch.com reports more now 24 distibutions that provide
Krusader 1.70.0 [7] and 6 distro's that provide 1.70.1 [3]
Be aware that Distrowatch.com only check's the initial release of a distro,
updates and packports are not always reported in this list.
Some other distro's use repositories where krusader can be downloaded
and installed,

Krusader at openusability.org

Using a program, understanding its interface and getting information out
is something that should always be clear in every application, no matter
how advanced your understanding of operating systems is or how deep is
your computer literacy. For that reason Krusader asked to be included in
openusability.org project [10] [11]. This project joins the software developers
and usability experts in an attempt to check all parts of user interface for
the inappropriate entries. Its main goal is making user interface and dialogs
understandable and friendly to every user. We need your, our users' comments,
to make things better. In case you find a part of the program's interface to
be complicated, please do help us correct it and make it better.

New features available in cvs

Since the last newsletter [12] several new features where added
in cvs [13, 14, 15, 16] plus some bug fixes and i18n updates.
We welcome and encourage your feedback!
Download it, play with it, push it to the limit,
and then tell us what you found!
New features:
- atomic extensions (see CVSNEWS)
- archive packing / unpacking are now in the background
- renaming of just the filename, without extension
- full screen terminal window (mc-style)
- Inactive panel color dimming (thanks to Heiner)
- ActionMan for useraction configuration
- single instance mode
- start to system tray
- right click menu for bookmarks
- enable/disable special bookmarks by right clicking on them
- keeping the directory structures for virt folders at copy/move
- --architecture-- refactoring in the useractions, see CVSNEWS
Bugfixes:
- terminal emulator sends the CD commands too frequently
- terminal emulator scrolls up its content after hide/show
- [ 1501740 ] can not link from a search result's virtfs
- rare compile problem where exit() isn't defined
- [ 1519955 ] wrong permission handling in vfs::vfs_calcSpaceLocal
- viewer gives back the focus to the search/locate widgets after ESC
- problems with local directory names containing '@' character
- security: sometimes the passwords are stored in cleartext in bookmarks.xml
- cannot close Krusader when "menubar on top of the screen" is chosen
- URL duplication is disabled in the virtual URL collection
- cut/copy/paste also works for virtual URLs
