Another update from the KG Herald.

btw - this is not everyone but I thought I would work on a small
selection, and once I have gotten it right add everyone else...

Is this what people were hoping for?

Click on http://groups.google.com/group/kraeglas/web/krae-glas-roll-of-arms
- or copy & paste it into your browser's address bar if that doesn't
work.

Wow ....That is really starting to look good.
Ok I was wondering about devices etc when a friend asked me. Because
they are new and was thinking about a name and in turn that led onto a
device. Is there a place where they can go to look at all the pretty
pictures?
I remember something called a "picdic" i think.
I think if there is and people have easy access to it. I think more
devices would be registered.
Also I was wondering about prizes/awards for competitions. I know we
have a prize of a years membership to a st monican. Would it make
sense to have prizes of a device registration? I know that I would
work hard for that one. *grins*

*Rustle rustle* Yep consulting herald ...John Sawyer .....lol.
Hmmm I think I will need new paperwork. Where do I find that?

Thanks Emma,

I will be adding these details onto the Herald pages but I have been
busy with the Roll of Arms..

I will try to make a pack that people can download, and then maybe
print out and colour in etc.

Airdin - Yes there is a PicDic (Pictorial Dictionary of Heraldry) and
I have a copy (well I did, then we started to pack the house.. so it
could be anywhere) I will dig up a link to an online version or
resources of that ilk and again put it on the Herald page.

I am pleased that people like the Roll of Arms, and even more pleased
it has inspired some to dust off the old paperwork!

I will be at Twilight Tourney, and if I can find stuff, will see about
bringing it along.

Where are the porpoises? they are supporters, not part of the actual
device. But if anyone cared enough they could register it as a badge
for krae glas. Or we could just use it as a badge, and not worry
about registration - like we currently are.

Emma's link (http://www.lochac.sca.org/herald/submissions.htm) is indeed the place to go for submission forms.

The new College of Heralds site is still under construction, so I will point out that there is a link to a really good FAQ on how to do submissions the right way tucked away at the very bottom of that page. For convenience, here is the link:

http://www.lochac.sca.org/herald/docs/SubmissionsFAQ.pdf

I think it's great that so many KGers are looking to register names and armory at the moment. I talked to at least four at the St Monica's BBQ on Friday, none of whom were Airdin or Cadno.

If you have any questions about the submissions process, you can ask your shiny new Shire Herald, Martyn Fairchild, or me, as I'm going through the process now myself. My submission is going to be considered by Laurel Sovereign of Arms at next month's meeting.

Cheers,

Registering the Porpoises as the KG Badge would be a good idea.

I was tempted to make a very bad pun based on the substitution of porpoise and purpose.
Better that I didn't, I think.
:P

I can't see any problem with just going as we are. Anyone trying to register it as a badge (and not on behalf of Krae Glas) would surely have troubles.
If not in the registering of the badge, then shortly after. :)

It would be except that we'd never get it passed. It conflicts with
the badge of the Dauphin of France as is and IIRC most decent
variations had already been taken.

do tell (unless potentially offensive for reasons other than the badness of the pun)

Our Shire motto isn't "Sense of Purpose" for no reason, you know :)

I can't remember how it was going to go at the time, something along
the lines of "what possible porpoise would it serve"
Like I said, bad pun.

I think that a badge would be a good idea ....or even just getting the
porpoise out there would be a good idea. As our colours can also be
confused with Ynys Fawr. As I got asked a few times while wearing the
belt. lol.

I thought I had the PicDic, but from my list of heraldic links (http://delicious.com/yvesdelyle/heraldry), all I could find that might be useful was a Primer (http://heraldry.sca.org/primer/), the Uni of Nortre Dame's Heraldic book thingie (http://www.rarebooks.nd.edu/digital/heraldry/), and Heraldic Atlas (http://www.heraldica.org/topics/glossary/atlas.htm).

Update to the Roll of Arms.

Please let me know if I have missed anyone.

If you missed the announcement, the fees for registering arms has been
waived for the immediate future (at least 2010). Now is the time to
dust off that design you have been meaning to register, and bring it
along.

I should be back in action now - we have mostly moved house, and are
starting to settle back into a normal routine again (yay).
