The bag with the thermometer sticking in it is a 'Yellow' and the one to the right is a 'blue'. The one without any showing is unknown at this time.  Wood chips do not have as much surface area exposed for the fungus to feed on so it takes longer to fruit.  These are hinging in my our utility room. The house temperature is from 75 to 78 in the day and around 70 at night. The  thermometer is a consistent 80 in the straw ones and in the chips it is only 74 as the fungus is not developing as much heat. How are yours doing?  Ben

Hi Gary,
Maybe I can explain the blue and yellow. We cultured Pleurotus
citrinopleatus (yellow) and Pleurotus colunbinus (blue) and Pleurotus
pulmonarius (Phoenix). Our bag marking was somewhat lacking. Some bags had
good marks on them, but several missed the marking completely.
Are you planning a class in Homer this year? I sure enjoyed the one I
attended a couple years back.

My Int. Ak field guide will be out this Aug., hopefully in time for our
Homer class.
