Hi Knitters and Crocheters,
We've unpacked a few particularly fun boxes this past week:
Lots of beads are here. We have #6 and #8 now. They've come just in time
for Laura's Entomology wrap class. Come pick out a skein of Schaefer Anne
and some beautiful beads and learn a new trick or two from Schaefer's Design
Director Laura Nelkin.
Punta Yarns Merisoft is also here and in such gorgeous colors! The price is
great, the colors are unique and lovely, it knits up nicely at 4 sts/inch
and is soft enough for wonderful warm scarves, hats, and mittens.
We have a new batch of Stacy Charles KARMA in too, this is the soft - and I
mean really, really soft - chunky yarn that Suze and I made the Karma cowl
neck warmer out of last year, and that is still a great project, the pattern
is free, it's quick and easy and if you knit once with this yarn, you'll
find excuses to use it again.
Classes that are starting soon:
Entrelac Scarf or Shawl: <http://knittingetcithaca.com/?p=203> You have to
try this to know how fun it is! It's beautiful in self-striping yarns, like
our shop sample and that instructor Sharon Darlow made with Mushishi and
Boku. This class *starts Monday Sept 28 at 6:30pm*, there are still a few
spots left. We have lots of great yarn options for this scarf too.
Entomology Wrap: <http://knittingetcithaca.com/?p=470> Saturday October 3rd
at noon, this is a lovely fun lace shawl with a touch of beading. Laura is
a great teacher and designer, the pattern is free, and it takes only one
skein of Schaefer's Anne.
Knitting Basics: Felted Bag <http://knittingetcithaca.com/?p=132>: starts
Oct 3, 10-noon. This is our ever popular beginner or scarf-plus class.
Erin will guide you through cast on, bind off, knit, purl, knit flat and
circularly, increase, decrease, stripes, I-cord, kitchener st, and felting!
Crochet Squares <http://knittingetcithaca.com/?p=479>: We've changed the
dates on this class, it will now start Oct 18, and run through Dec 6. Still
in time to have a bunch of squares done for a holiday gift. These crochet
squares are so fun! There are plain and lacy squares, 3-D flower squares,
traditional granny squares, you'll get hooked pretty quick on these once you
start (yeah, pun kinda intended).
Judy's Colors Christmas Stockings: <http://knittingetcithaca.com/?p=480>These
stockings are just beautiful, Lynda has knit a bunch of them herself
already. The one she made for Ryland's baby gift is at the store to show
off (until I need to fill it with goodies in a few months). These are
heirloom quality stockings, but they are fun to knit! They are detailed and
just gorgeous. I need your choice of kit in about two weeks though, so
please go look here <http://www.judyscolors.com/gallery/category/4> and just
*try *to pick only one! Lynda will help you with fair isle technique,
two-color braids, ruffles, anything else your pattern calls for.
Hope we see you soon!
