Do we have any control over where the info balloon pointer points for a LineString (tessellate line)?

I have a series of coordinates in my LineString, describing a "path" over the land from up near the arctic circle down across the americas to the southern-most tip of South America. When the name of the placemark in the "Places" pane is clicked, the info balloon appears as expected. However, it points to a location in the ocean. I don't understand how it's determining where the balloon pointer should point. Can it be forced to point to one of the coordinates comprising the path, or to somewhere along the path - i.e. on the line?

Thanks for any insight,

Hi

The easy way would be 'r-click on the object you wish on the Places pane > Properties (Edit in GE3) > View > Arrange your view by the top-right navigation tools > Snapshot current view > OK'

If you are working manually on kml, copy the generated 'LookAt' info and paste into your kml.

Thanks for trying to help, but I guess I didn't describe the problem well enough. I'm not referring to the "view" that's displayed when you DOUBLE click on the place mark. I'm referring to the white pointer coming from the info balloon that appears when you SINGLE click on the placemark - i.e. the thing that "points to" the coordinate - except that in the case of a LineString, it's a whole series of coordinates. The problem is that it doesn't point to ANY of the coordinates or any of the line segments between those coordinates. It's pointing way out in the Pacific Ocean. It's just not clear to me how to control where the info balloon points.

Any other suggestions?

You mean the baloon arrow? Yes, confusing. It behaves so since I first used it. I've must read somewhere that it points to the center of the area that is formed by the path (or just the center of any group of elements that form a placemark with <MultiGeometry>.

I also vote for an option in that.

Yes, the balloon arrow. I guess I'm not up on the terminology. Sorry. I thought that it might point to the geometric center of the points, but that doesn't seem to be the case. My tessellate path goes from N. America to S. America over land, and the balloon arrow points way out in the ocean - which doesn't seem to be the center of the points.

At any rate, I temporarily eliminated the issue by removing the description so that the placemark is not an active link.

Thanks for at least confirming there's no control over this functionality.

Best.
You've introduced another job for the GE staff to make it better. Thanks.
