- - KML HIGH SCHOOL NEWS AND INFORMATION - -

 

= CALL NEWS =

   Mrs. Erin Laabs, who currently serves as an English teacher at KML, has accepted a permanent Call to continue her ministry at our school.  We pray that God may bless her continued work among us.

   Mrs. April Goldschmidt, who was called to teach Spanish, and Rev. Matt Brown, who was called to teach Religion, have both returned their Calls to serve at KML.

 

= WALKING THE PATH UPDATE – IS THIS PROJECT TOO BIG? =

   Is this project too big? That question was never verbalized, but it might be a silent question on people’s minds. There is no question that this project is big. Other WELS schools have larger fine arts facilities, but this is a major step for KML, and is certainly a big step for our Federation. But the question remains, “Is it too big?”

   Superintendent Bartelt said it very well. This project is so big that only God can get the credit when it is accomplished. So, is this project big? Yes – most certainly! Is it too big? Not when we consider the words of Paul to the Ephesians, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” – Ephesians 3:20-21.

 

= KML TOUCAN CUSTARD DAY =

    Saturday, February 11 is our first KML TOUCAN CUSTARD Day in West Bend.  10% of ALL sales between 10am and 9pm will be donated to the KML Walking the PATH Together Campaign.  No coupon is necessary.  Toucan Custard does not accept credit/debit cards…cash or check only.  Come out for the grade school cheer and dance competition and head to West Bend for some custard.  Thank you for supporting your high school.

 

= GRADE SCHOOL CHEER/DANCE COMPETITION =

   KMLHS is proud to host their annual grade school cheer and dance competition on Saturday, February 11, from 10:30am-4:00pm. You are invited to come and cheer on these young athletes. Admission is $3. Please check our web site at www.kmlhs.org/cheer for more information.

 

= LADY CHARGERS ON WTKM =

   WTKM will broadcast KML basketball game on Valentine’s Day- Tuesday, February 14, the Lady Chargers will be playing at Hartford Union High School.  The game will be broadcast on 104.9 WTKM. = EAST COAST TRIP UPDATE =

   East Coast trip participants will receive final packets of information which will include hotel contact information, final itinerary, luggage specifications, etc. in early March.  Adults will receive their packets at the meeting on Saturday, March 3, from 8:30-9:30 in the KML Board room.   Contact Mr. Jerry Zeamer with any questions or concerns at jerry.zeamer@kmlhs .

 

= TUITION ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE =

   The Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School Federation recognizes that the cost of Christian secondary education has the potential of being a challenge for some families.  Accordingly, the Federation has established the KML Tuition Assistance Program.  The program is designed to help families meet the cost of this great blessing.  The monies come from many donors and foundations, including the KML Foundation.  Applications are available online at www.kmlhs.org/tuitionassistance .  The deadline to apply is March 15, 2012.  The KML Finance Committee will determine the assistance distribution by mid-April.  Feel free to contact Jody Hansen, KML Business Manager, at 262-677-4051 x1109 or jody....@kmlhs.org if you have any questions.

 

= ACCEPTING DONATIONS TO BLACK & WHITE AUCTION =

   This year’s auction’s profits will go toward the purchase of a school bus for transporting our students to extra-curricular events.  This is in addition to 20% going to support the tuition assistance program here at KML.   Donations are needed for raffle items/silent auction items as well as larger items for the live auction segment of the evening.  Please consider making a donation.  Maybe your place of employment would partner with us by making a donation!  Donation forms are available online at www.kmlhs.org/auction or by contacting Karen Bartman at karen....@kmlhs.org or 262-677-4051x1108

 

= SAVE THE DATE – SATURDAY, APRIL 21!! =

   There is an exciting new agenda for this year’s auction - It’s a” two-fer” evening!  Enjoy an evening of casino games by Classic Casino and UW-Madison’s “Redefined” will provide musical entertainment!  In addition to this, five $1,000 KML tuition grants will be given away!  If you are a parent or guardian who will have a child attending KMLHS during the 2012-2013 school year and attend the auction, you will be eligible to receive one of these grants.  Items that will be included in the silent and live auction are now being listed at www.kmlhs.org/auction

= SCRIP: SUBSTITUTE CASH REBATE INCENTIVE PROGRAM =

   Earn tuition dollars while you shop!!!!  Kwik Trip extends their 9% rebate until Spring of 2013!!!  They are available as $25 and $100 cards and can be used for gas or in the convenience store for groceries!  The Scrip office is now open on Saturdays for Grade School Band on Saturday March 18th and 25th from 8:30am-9:45am.  Regular Scrip Office Hours are: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday from 8am-3pm; Friday 8am-3:30pm; closed Tuesday.

= CELTIC CHRISTIAN WORSHIP =

   On Sunday, February 19, Morning Star Lutheran Church will celebrate its Covenant Sunday with a special Celtic Christian worship service at 9:00 AM with music by the Lutheran Ceili Orchestra.  All are invited to attend.

   The Lutheran Ceili Orchestra is a group of accomplished WELS Celtic musicians from central and southeastern Wisconsin that have taken their unique blend of Celtic Christian music and worship to venues across the United States.  Their "Celtic Service" series features traditional hymns, verses, and prayers from the Celtic lands.  Come and learn the true stories behind the legends of ancient Celtic Christianity and hear music played on authentic instruments including the villean bagpipes, tinwhistle, fiddle, bodhran, haunting vocals, and more!

   The group is led by Celtic instrumentalist Joey Schumann (www.joeyschumann.com) who has toured with American composer Tim Janis and has twice been a featured performer on the villean bagpipes and tinwhistle at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

 

= MARTIN LUTHER COLLEGE CHOIR CONCERT =

   The Martin Luther College Choir, under the direction of Dr. Kermit Moldenhauer, will present a choral concert titled, "Praise the Lord, O My Soul" at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1052 White Rock Ave - Waukesha, WI on Friday, February 24 at 7:00 pm.  The concert is part of a series of concerts the choir is presenting in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Alaska this spring.  The program will include works by Bach, Schütz, Mozart, Clausen, Rutter and others.  The congregation will also be asked to join the choir in singing as together we proclaim the gospel in song.  A free will offering will be gathered to help with choir expenses.  Martin Luther College is part of the worker training program of our synod.  The college prepares teachers and staff ministers who are ready to accept positions in our congregations and it prepares men to enter the seminary to complete their training to serve as pastors.  Come and meet some of our future workers and enjoy the music they bring with them.
