Dave Haupt and I were out yesterday on Klamath County's NAMC, as just one of the teams. We ended with about 148 species.

Highlights included:

FLAMMULATED OWL: 1 at Seven-mile Guard Station, 1 at the 2.5 mile mark on FS road between the Guard Station and Westside Rd. , and 2 near the 2 mile mark, (one there was very close), and one at Mare's Egg pullout on Westside Road (which is about a half-mile south of the turn where Westside Road changes to Seven-mile Road).

NORTHERN PYGMY OWL- 2, one at Kimball Jackson SP (viewed also), and another at Wood River Day Use Area, along Sun Pass Rd. .

RUFFED GROUSE- booming at Kimball Jackson SP

NORTHERN ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOW- 2, nest cavity, in root ball of fallen tree aside Wood River, at the Day Use area.

AMERICAN DIPPER, Short Creek, about 1 mi. north of Westside Rd., on FS road towards Seven-mile Guard Station. (large open  clear water pond or pool). It was singing. (not present at Seven-mile GS, and water flows are very low for this time of year).

HORNED GREBE, 2, Agency Lake, access from the Wood River Wetlands at the north end of the lake.

FRANKLIN'S GULL- 36 (scattered, and flying high around Wood River Valley and near Fort Klamath.... keep your ears tuned to their calls),
and more at Odessa, but we were poaching at that stop on the way home)

Flycatchers: DUFL, HAFL, GRFL, and OSFL (Willow and Western Wood Peewee haven't showed up yet, and typically don't until later in May)

Woodpeckers: missed White-headed WP, and Williamson's Sapsucker

Warblers: all regular and expected were seen. Unfortunately not seen: Black-throated Gray Warbler and Yellow-breasted Chat.

Weird miss: White-breast Nuthatch.... numerous stops in pine woodlands where they have been detected in the past, but zilch.

On the way up to our area we stopped on Township Road. Between Township and Stateline Road, and while driving south on Oregon Drain, there were several fields with water; Shorebirds included: Long-billed Curlew, 6, Black-bellied Plover, 13, Willet,  and Greater Yellowlegs (1).
