We live about 1/4 mile off Agency Lake and are having many birds at
our feeders. I don't have the exact numbers because they are coming
and going all day. They include Black-capped and Mountain Chickadee,
Juncos (slate-colored race, pink sided race, and Oregon race), big
groups of Bushtits and Red-breasted Nuthatches, two House Finch
(perhaps they are Cassin's Finch) and yesterday, one Pine Siskin.
This week, we have also have had a Downy Woodpecker and a Northern
Flicker. Frequent Red Tail Hawks and Eagles are seen in the area,
and this week, an unidentified accipiter, perhaps a Cooper's Hawk.
And of course, we have quail -- perhaps thirty to fifty visit our
yard each day. I also saw a Great Egret down at the lake beach last
week. We had a Great Horned Owl and a Great Gray Owl last year
around our house but this year, we have seen neither.
