Miscellaneous presentation/session leader accessories and materials

struck me that I want to make sure we address: what equipment/material
do session leaders need or want to use during their presentations?
One thing noted on the KinkForAllNewYorkCity page Needs list[0] is

Does anyone have one of these (or, preferably 3 since we have three
rooms)? If not, does anyone know where we can get one (freely or
cheaply). I believe The Center has a limited supply but when we
secured the venue space we didn't reserve projectors. Was this a
mistake? I can do some of the presentations I want without a
projector, but will others who are hoping to lead sessions *require*
such projectors?
What else will you need? Please speak up and let us know so we can
muster as many of the things we'll need to have ahead of time. :)
Also, if you're already planning to bring some materials, it'd be
helpful if you added that information to the event's Inventory page[1].

Whiteboards sound like overkill but large flip-boards sound like a
good idea. Do *you* need them or are you imagining that *others* will
need them? We have to make sure we minimize any possible waste.
Trying to extrapolate into my own future needs, I don't see myself
needing a large flip-board but that doesn't mean it won't come in
handy….

I have a particular reason to ask about this, which comes with a
slightly larger question. I went to CineKink on Thursday for a
collection of shorts. (And BTW, where was everybody I called? You
really should have been there. :) ) The highlight of the evening was a
film called 'Kink, Inc.', about a couple who stumble into professional
domination. It is absolutely brilliantly done. It accurately captures
the first-time experience, the allure of kink, and the humor of the
situation without in any way being at the expense of either the practice
of kink or the character of the people who engage in it. And it was
made by people who aren't (weren't?) in the scene. I told the writer /
lead actor about KFA, and encouraged him to come.
Now the big question, especially given that most people at KFA won't
have seen the film, is whether there's a way to show it on Sunday. It's
27 minutes long, IIRC, so it's slightly over the 20 minute limit, but I
would highly, highly recommend that we try to do something like
scheduling two back-to-back sessions, with the second being mostly Q&A
and discussion of the film. Basically, if you want this conference to
be (partly) about the destigmatization of kink, you really want this there.
So: do we have the technology? Can we rebuild it?

The question is do *you* want this there? :) It sounds cool to me. If
you want to show the film, you should come to KinkForAll early and
grab two presentation slots, one for showing the film and one for
*leading a discussion* about it in the time slot after it. I think
that would be great.
I'd encourage you *not* to simply grab two timeslots just to show the
film without leading some discussion/making some presentation yourself
about it afterwards, however, and since it's obviously something that
has spurred lots of questions for you, I think you'd do yourself a
disservice if you didn't take advantage of leading a session related
to it after you showed it. (Plus other people will be wanting to lead
sessions, too, and so I think you should offer something of yourself
if you're going to use two presentation slots.)

AFAIK, we don't *yet* have a projector of this sort. I'd definitely
chalk your short film idea as another reason to get one since it's
clearly needed for something like that. So again this comes back to my
earlier point at the very start of this thread:

I'm starting to think that we should make sure to have one so I'll
start looking into ways to make one or more available, but would also
appreciate others efforts to do the same.

Well, it would really be Dean's presentation, but I'm thinking I'd
moderate a Q&A or something.

Has anyone spoken to the Center about this? I'm working on getting a
projector, but I might not be allowed to let anyone else use it.

So my understanding is that it turns out The Center does have
projectors, but not *digital* ones for laptops. In other words, we
should find a way to bring digital projector that can be attached to
laptops ourselves. If anyone has any leads, please follow up!
