Big Plan

Get The Word Out

Read The publicity guide. It can be found in the files section, and will answer most questions you may have.

Flyering on Campus:Every College should have 30 or so flyers delivered to the housing office (one for every RA's box, who will post them in the dorms) and someone with a staple gun should hit up every bulletin board (check cafes. quads, mailrooms, housing office, library/study centers, multipurpose rooms, etc.). Also, a small stack of quartersheets should be left in the cafe of every college, or anywhere else you see quartersheets.

Busstops: (Jack and Evan)

Oakes: (Dana) RAs have flyers, bulletin boards and cafe still need.

C8: (Dana) RAs should have, check bulletin boards + cafe.

Porter: (double check with Jack! Rusk, he may have all of Prtr and Krsg covered)

Kresge: Coop has posters, as do RAs and exterior boards

Trailer Park  - there's, like, one bulletin board (with a KPP flyer) by the bathrooms.

C9 & C10 - Mailrooms and exterior boards have flyers

Crown/Merrill - nothin

Cowell - nothin (Sam Badger could do Cwll + Stvnsn)

Stevenson - nothin

Theatre Arts - ask barnstorm for help getting into glass boxes? or through Alma being in Theatre Arts.

Campus Core - ARC/Press Center, McHenry, Bookstore Area

Village (Pathanapong)

Flyering Downtown (Elliott is on it, coordinate with him) (see publicity guide in the files section)

Mission St.

Laurel St.

 Pacific/Cedar/Front St

Water/Soquel

PR Campaign: Press Releases (and posters if possible) needs to be faxed or emailed, and follow up calls made, to the following:

Radio:
-KZSC: also need text for 30 second PSA (adapt from press release)

-many KZSC DJs will play spoken word stuff if it relates vaguely to their show. we have recordings of poems from most of the headlining artists, as well as the slam team from years past (I should upload those!) so if you know DJs, talk to them about playing it.

    -KUSP: do they do PSAs?

-KAZU: ? they're a local public radio station

-KPIG - call in and record announcement

TV:

    -Submit DVD to SCTV

    -Submit JPG advert to SCTV

    -community television?

Student Publications:
    -Twanas

    -Red Wheelbarrow

    -Matchbox

    -ALAY

    -The Project

    -FRL?

so many more... add any you see fit.

Newspapers:

    -CHP

    -Sentinal

    -Monterey County Herald

    -Pajaronian

    -SJ Mercury

Weeklys:

    -Good Times

    -Metro Nuz

Talk to People

-Representative needs to go to meeting of big 5 ethnic orgs and invite them to come to show and get involved - if there are poets in their community who would like to get involved, email lists, etc

    -other orgs?

    -make announcements in your classes

-tell your housemates, hallmates, teammates, coworkers, RAs, etc

Internet

-Facebook: We have a great KPP group already set up. Invite everyone you know!

      • Create an event for KPP festival. INVITE EVERYONE YOU KNOW

    -Myspace
      •Create a myspace even
t.  INVITE EVERYONE YOU KNOW

    -Tribe?

     -Friendster?

Reader/publication?

The reader will be a litmag/chapbookish publication that will double as a program. It will be distributed on campus and in the community to promote the Festival. Some things I think it should contain:

    - bio + pix of all headlining artists (4 pp.)

    - poems from every headlining artist (16 pp.)

    - poems from Rainbow's Showcase (4 pp.)

    - a schedule of all events happening during the festival (2pp, centerfold)

    - info about KPP (what is KPP flyer)/ mission statement (2pp.)

    - letter from the producer/director (1 pp.)

    - donation form (1pp.)

    - a little advertising from good local businesses and other groups to help pay for the production of it. (4 pp.)

We need to decide, by this weekend, what will be in the reader so we can get a price quote, determine if it's within our budget and how much advertising we should gather. But these need to be produced and distributed with at least 2 weeks before the festival for them to be effective.

-plus front and back cover is 36 pp. total.

Fundraising

    SUA

    Porter Senate

Provost/CAO funding has now been consolidated like Core , info on SOAR website.

no, sigh. they stop patrolling Porter at 8:30, though. also, can you still
cover Crown merrill Cowell Stevenson? Dag did Oakes, 9 and 10, so those are
the only ones left before we have complete coverage. oh, and the core.

Did we ever work out parking for Monday through Wednesday? I could
talk to TAPS or Porter or whoever. Probably kinda expensive, no?
