Hi,
I'm close to finishing a little thingie I've done in kk. Basically you
can set up a pc keyboard key to send a CC message, save a set of
configured keys under a general name, keep the settings in a config
file and while running to be able to change the configurations.
The purpose of this app is to control softsynths but it will be
obviously able to do the same with any external sound module/synth
that's midi compliant.
I would like to know if anyone is interested toying with such a
widget.

Of course, did you use also the GUI, I hope not, I would prefer simple
command line print messages as feedback mechanism for state changes. In
general I would recommend using AutoHotkey together with Keykit, I mean
in Windows, as AutoHotkey offers very extensive features for accessing
files and folders on your system as well powerful hotkey possibilities.
I would recommend following kind of chained solution

AutoHotkey ----> Command line ----> Keykit ----> Command line (if
this is possible?) ----> (visually cool) Notification system (e.g.
Snarl, http://sourceforge.net/projects/snarlwin/ )

Kind regards,
Tony

Well,
I did use the GUI. Sorry to disappoint :) But...
the way I intended it to be used is based on the following
assumptions:
* Phase 1 thinking and testing:
- I do have some MIDI controllers providing insufficient sliders/
pots, should be suplemented with the available pc keyboard
- I have a VSTi that I want to control with anything but the mouse
(how about an usb number keypad?)
- I use the widget to set up mapping between keys and cc and fidget
with these until I'm satisfied
- save the set of mappings under a name that can be later recalled
(using kvalbuttons)
* Phase 2 playing with the synth
- start keykit, load the widget, select the mapping you desire
- mangle the sounds with the help of the midi controllers AND the pc
keyboard
- no other specific interaction with keykit
