ENIL ends up 6% on TRAI's FM radio svc proposal
..............................................................................
MUMBAI--3:25PM--Shares of Entertainment Network India ended up 6%
at 479 rupees as it is seen benefiting from Telecom Regulatory of
India's recommendations on frequency modulation radio broadcasting
services.
TRAI today recommended FM radio broadcasters be allowed to take
news from All India Radio and Doordarshan as well as news agencies.
The major positive for the company would be inclusion of news
which would allow differentiation of content. If multiple frequencies
are also allowed, brand positioning can be maintained to a certain
extent.
However, analysts said it would take two or three quarters for the
company to see any volume growth if the recommendations are indeed
rolled out.
TRAI also recommended scrapping the 15% ceiling on total FM radio
channels that a licencee can operate.
The removal of the 15% ceiling would benefit players with large
number of stations like ENIL, Sun TV (Network), and Adlabs (Films) as
they would be able to bid for vacant frequencies in phase II and phase
III.
