Equity Alert: Mkt down 4%; Nifty below Jan low, Sensex below 15000
MUMBAI--11:39AM--Share indices extended losses, with Nifty falling
below
its January low, on fund selling across the board amid weak cues from
overseas
markets and high crude oil prices, dealers said.
Sensex slipped below the 15000-mark to 14933.13, down 639.05
points or 4.1%.
Nifty was at 4438.50, down 189.30 points or 4.1%.
"Nifty has support at 4400, and then around 4360. Volumes are very
low and
there is hardly any buying support at lower levels," said a dealer.
Bharat Petroleum Corp, down 11%, was the worst hit on Nifty. Other
laggards
included Unitech and Oil and Natural Gas Corp, down 8% and 7%,
respectively.
Cairn India, up 4%, was the top gainer on Nifty.
