The market closed at the day's high today following positive global
cues. Sensex shut shop at 16978, up 225 points and Nifty at 5011, up
53 points from the previous close. The CNX Midcaps index was up 1.02%
and BSE Smallcaps index was up by 0.44%. The BSE Metals index was up
4.3%, BSE IT index was up 3.8% and BSE Technology index was up 3.19%.
The market breadth was positive with advances at 678 against declines
of 547 on the NSE. Top Nifty gainers included Dr Reddy's, TCS and
Hindalco while losers included ONGC, GAIL and ACC.
