Govt says no proof of investment by terror outfits in stock market
NEW DELHI - The government today reiterated that there was no
evidence of
investment by terrorist outfits in the stock market.
"Information available with the government and the regulators does
not
indicate any surreptitious entry of terrorist outfits into the stock
market,"
a finance ministry release said today.
The government clarification comes in the backdrop of allegations
former
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa that money from terror
outfits was
being funnelled into Indian markets.
The release says the activities of foreign institutional investors
and
participatory notes issued by them are being regulated by the
Securities and
Exchange Board of India. End
