Petro Meet: Govt may look at fuel price hike possibility in Oct
Thursday, Jul 3
MADRID - The government has no immediate plan for another round of
fuel
price hike despite surging crude oil prices, but may review if there
was a
need to increase retail rates in October, Petroleum Secretary M.S.
Srinivasan
said today.
"It was decided at the Cabinet meeting in June (when auto fuel
prices were
raised) to revisit or take stock of the situation in October. So,
between now
and October, there will be no revision in prices," Srinivasan said on
the
sidelines of the 19th World Petroleum Congress here.
The government had last month raised petrol prices by 5 rupees per
1 L and
diesel by 3 rupees per 1 L, while cooking gas prices were hiked by 50
rupees
per 14.2 kg cylinder.
