Rise, Rise & Fall: 10k-21k and back

It took 484 trading sessions for the Sensex to climb from 10,000 (on
February 6, 2006) and touch an all-time high of 21,207 (on January 8,
2008). While it has taken much less — just 191 sessions — for it to
return to 10,000 and below.
The last sub-10k Sensex close was on July 24, 2006.

Between 10k and 21k, BSE investors' wealth went up by Rs 44.5 lakh
crore to Rs 71.02 lakh crore.
During the slide from 21k to below 10k, the loss was Rs 38.9 lakh
crore with BSE's market capitalization now at Rs 31.13 lakh crore.
