Well, as I do not get to play this game nearly often enough, I am
sending out a call. I do not care where we play, Pulp Fiction, Table
Top, 31st Century. I would like to get a regular or semi regular game
going again. We used to play every other Friday, and I would like to
do something similar to that again.
Anyhow some things and games I would like to play ( tournaments, or
otherwise)
150-200 pt. faction pure ( this means NO affinity, and no mixing of
fringe with other factions)
300 pt. ( 10 figures per squad max)
150 pt ( max figure cost 35, one unique per squad)
300 pt. Force War ( either all character in a squad must have a force
rating, or none of them can.)
Those are just a few ideas I have. I could care less about DCI or
anything like that, Too restrictive. Use any fig, any map.
In addition, I would like to find a way to have some kinda risk/
reward for playing in a tourney. Lets say everyone brings one extra
rare, or very rare, and puts them in a pool. Then first place finisher
gets firs pick, and so on. we could limit this to the top 3 players,
or go until everyonehas something.
I'd be interested in trying all of those. I'd also like to see some semi-regular games at Pulp Fiction again.

I would be interested in playing more, time permitting. I think the issue is that since there are only 4-6 people who are consistently coming to events, it is hard to find an evening where we are all free. That is why I have been running events about once a month, and trying to make sure that several regular-attending people will be there.
I would be interested in an every other week - perhaps on a Thursday or Friday at either 31st or Tabletop. Regarding Pulp Ficiton, I would be willing to drive on a Friday night if I was certain that there would be 3 or four others going to. It stunk when I was driving out to Pulp Fiction and only one other was showing up.
Mike: If you make it out to the GAW release tournament, then we can discuss more.

Let me know which works for you - Thursday or Friday, and we will schedule the GAW release tournament on that evening.

I havn't been able to attend a tournament the last few times, but I would
definitely like to get back into the swing of things. Scenario play or
themed play really seems to be a lot of fun, but I'd be down for whatever
everyone else wants to do.

Star Wars Minis - Galaxy At War Release Tournament - 100
There will be a DCI sanctioned tournament on Thursday October 29th, 2009 at 31st Century in Olathe. 31st Century is in the SW corner of the intersection of 151st Street and Murlen. Phone # is (913)397-7706.
We will begin Setup and Registration at 6:00. Rounds will last 60 minutes. We will play Gambit rules, and each player must bring his own map.
This tournament will follow all normal rules for limited tournaments. Each player receives two boosters from which they will construct their squad. The entry fee will be $22; a great deal for two boosters.
As a prize, I will be providing any duplicate figure from Jedi Academy of the "Rare" variety. So, come enjoy the new set, and do some trading!
I hope everyone can make it. Sorry if Thursday is an inconvenience; it had to be Thursday due to 31st schedule.
nitril - sorry you will miss it - but I hope you can make it out next time.
Mike- I hope we can discuss options of more regular gaming at this tournament. Hope to see you there.

Windows 7: I wanted more reliable, now it's more reliable. Wow!
Hi Tim: It is good to hear you will be back in the group.
To Everyone:
I prefer thematic play, or any play that adds a bit of variety to the top-tier dci format. I would suggest, however, that our themes/variety still fits within DCI format, for that is what Jim Fraser and WOTC is paying attention to. If we have a couple of dci tournaments a month, there is a chance we might be able to hold our own subregional.
Also, I don't want the talk of more regular tournaments on week days to suggest we won't hold any more weekend tournaments. I know the group enjoys seeing Justin and other out-of-town visitors who make it on the weekends. So Justin - feel free to contribute ideas as well.
I am listing here the ideas that we have:
DCI TOURNAMENTS & POSSIBLE VARIANTS
Standard 100; suggested by Chris
Standard 200; suggested by Chris
150-200 pt. faction pure ( this means NO affinity, and no mixing of fringe with other factions) Suggested by Mike
300 pt. ( 10 figures per squad max); Suggested by Mike
150 pt ( max figure cost 35, one unique per squad): Suggested by Mike.
300 pt. Force War ( either all character in a squad must have a force rating, or none of them can.) Suggested by Mike
400 pt. 16 figure limitation, all figures must be costed at 25 points or more; rounds are 70 minutes long. Suggested by Chris
Hero Hunt 150 - only one unique is allowed. Upon defeat of this character, the skirmish is over; suggested by Chris
The New Republic Era: Only characters from the era are allowed, limited to the NR, Vong, Mando and Sith factions. Suggested by Chris
POSSIBLE DCI Sealed
Same as any sealed tournament, except you can buy 2 Boosters from any set that 31st has in stock. Probably could get a nice discount
NON-DCI
AT-AT Scenario; Created by Boris; suggested by Chris
actually Chris there is casual DCI where all variants including the
Scenerios are supposed to be reported. anytime we play that has any
change from the floor rules goes. and i defanatly feel that faction
pure affinity should be allowed. fringe no but Affinity changes their
faction to the new faction. I would suggest adding 200 or 300 light
vs dark where all factions have to be represented. example light
would have to have a rebel, republic, new republic, old republic and
fringe. dark would have to have Empire, Sith, Manadalorian, Vong,
Sepratist and fringe.

The issue with this casual play is that no one at 31st knows how to report it as such. That is a small issue though, IMO, since most of our formats no one has objected to being regular-dci. I would rather report as regular-dci, than not report at all.

said as regular DCI I just meant there isnt really anything thats not
DCI anymore. ill see if I can figure out through the boards how to

We are going to begin playing at 6PM every other Thursday night. The first one will be Thursday, November 12th. If you are going to come late, just shout out here on the google group.
We have decided that we will plan formats that will fit within DCI. But in the event that we do not have the minimum four players, we will have a fun skirmish planned as a backup.
I would like to request that Jason bring one of his scenarios/skirmishs and necessary pieces for Nov 12, in the event that we are not able to run our dci format. Information on this event will follow in the next email.

We will begin Setup and Registration at 6:00. Rounds will last 70 minutes. We will play Gambit rules, and each player must bring his own map.
This tournament will follow all normal rules for constructed tournaments, but subject to the following restrictions. The build is 400 points. Each squad is limited to only 16 characters, and each character must have a force point. Reserves and reinforcements are not allowed. Light Tutor ability can be used to give a force point to a character who does not have force points on his card.
As a prize, I will be providing one figure from Jedi Academy of the "Rare" variety that I have a duplicate of. So, come enjoy the fresh format, and do some trading!
Chris I would suggest starting a new topic on page one. That might
make it easier to find the posts. I will be there if I can I dont
know cause Tuesday I start at Wal Mart. I will bring the first of my
scenerios but some of them require figs I dont own so I will message
if I need someone else to bring a fig. but for the first couple I
should be able to bring the ones that I have all the figs for.
