Google Wave is a nascent communication tool being developed with an attitude of "if email were invented today, what would it be?"    For an excellent and interesting demo of Google Wave, see this presentation from the unveiling at Google IO.

It looks very cool, perhaps even "game-changing".  To try out the Google Wave API, you need to sign up for a sandbox developer's account.  There is also adeveloper's guide.

Although Google has promised to give out sandbox accounts to the 20,000+ people waiting to get one, it is not clear just how fast this will be done.

I have assurance that if we can organize a Wave Hackfest, all attendees will get sandbox developer accounts.  I've already got a location lined up with a training room and network connections.  All I need is an interested group of people.

I know KC is a few hours away, but I wanted to let you have a chance to go if interested.

Please see this page if interested: http://weblog.dangertree.net/stl-google-wave-hackfest/

That would be worth taking a couple of half-days off for a roadtrip for me.

Scott (and others)

I've got a minivan if we want to get a carpool going.

That makes 24 people signed up to go in 3 days!  :)  I have as many wave sandbox accounts as it takes, and we can fit 50 people.  First come first served... I'm about to announce it to the Gateway JUG, too ;).

I have a few questions. How many days will we be there? What days will it be? How much will it cost? I am currently not working so my income is small. I am interested in going if certain arrangements can be made.

I wasn’t sure if we were going to stay in St louis overnight or what. I actually live in Lincoln, Mo which is about 15miles south of Sedalia. I assumed the event it self was free, but if we were all going to group together or rooms or something.

I'm in KC, so I was planning to drive down Tue afternoon and get a
hotel overnight. Then drive back Weds. morning.

As much as I would love to attend, I will have to pass. I have a job in the
works and our money is just too tight for an overnight stay. Please let me
know how the event went.

Thanks,

Roger
