I heard a juicy rumor that Hooters might be looking to open here in
the Crossroads. Can anyone confirm or deny this? or provide more
deets?

One way or the other, you are also welcome to sound off in reply to
this outrageous idea. Maybe this will get people joining this
discussion group!

i cannot confirm, but it seems ill-advised. it would be a much better
fit for any other area immediately adjacent to the arena/P+L. does
anyone know the status of the former Goodyear site on main?

i assume that one of the things we will be telling the city for our
neighborhood plan is that *locally- or regionally-owned businesses*
are preferred for the crossroads. should we elect to allow any chain
restaurants, they should be integrated into the pedestrian experience
(no sea of surface parking in front of the entrance).

that's my $0.02.

The issue we will be dealing with is restaurants/bars don't want to
spend $30/sf with the Cordish and prefer $12/sf in the Crossroads. We
don't want to become the dumping ground of all the late night bars.
The only way to prevent some establishments is to be aware of the
notices neighbors get in the mail. To get a liquor license you need to
get 51% of your neighbors signatures within a certain distance of your
building. I can't see Hooters getting that, but we might want to start
talking to the neighbors around the old Dixie bell!!!

well, that would be everyone in my building @ 1819. i'm sure they
would all oppose. i'll mention it at our next owners meeting.

I do know for a fact the Hooters looked at the old DB (Dixie Bell)
building on Main a couple of times but they have apparently backed
off.
