Position

A tenure-track position in theatre. Teaching duties will include
technical, design and theatre courses for theatre majors, general
education courses, first-year experience courses, with the possibility
of direction. The preferred candidate will have experience working
with a variety of genres including musical theatre, Shakespeare, and
post-modern productions along with a record of mentoring student
actors and designers. Technical expertise with lights, set or sound
and knowledge of theatre literature and history is preferred.

The College

Eureka is a small residential liberal arts college located equidistant
between the cities of Peoria and Bloomington/Normal. The campus is
situated on 122 wooded acres with 24 academic and residential
buildings in the city of Eureka, Illinois. Focused on excellence in
learning, service, and leadership, Eureka graduates include 42 college
presidents, seven governors and members of Congress, and the 40th
president of the United States, Ronald Wilson Reagan. Eureka
currently has almost 800 students enrolled in 24 degree programs.
Chartered in 1855 to provide a “non-sectarian liberal arts” education
by abolitionists who were members of the Christian Church (Disciples
of Christ), Eureka was the first college in Illinois and the third in
the nation to admit men and women on an equal basis.

Position Requirements

Desired are candidates who share a commitment to a liberal arts
education and can demonstrate the potential for excellence in
teaching, service, and scholarship. The candidate must possess a
Ph.D. or MFA in theater with experience designing productions.
Teaching experience at a residential liberal arts college is
preferred. Experience/expertise in CAD and SFX sound systems is
desirable.
