dear all,

some of us are thinking about going for a walk this coming Saturday 27 or Sunday 28. Would anyone be willing to try again the "temple walk"? Leaving from Budhanilkantha temple, registering at the Shivapuri park entrance and going up to Nagi Gompa (monastery inside the park). After, we gently walk down to Kopan Monastery where we can have some food and hopefully great views of Kathmandu. For those who still have time and energy, it is possible to end this walk in Bouddha.

The total walk to Bouddha with several "meditation stops" took us 6 hours but I guess we can take less time... The nice thing about this walk is that you don't walk in the forest, thus minimizing the risk of seeing leeches or other snakes on your way.

My preference would be to do this walk on Sunday but if the majority prefers to walk on Saturday, I can manage. I would suggest meeting early, perhaps 8.30 at Budhanilkantha.

Other suggestions/destinations are welcome...

thanks

julie

Hey all, hey Julie,

Peter here, I am new to hiking with this group. I would be in for that temple tour on Sunday (but only Sunday), my personal preference would be to meet a little later though J Say 9:30? Anyways, if you guys prefer earlier that’s also fine with me.

Cheers

p

Hi Shelly et all

It may not work for your walk this Saturday/Sunday walk but for future walks do keep in mind Shivapuri Heights Cottage as a great place to do a morning walk and then finish at the Cottage for lunch.  There is a really pleasant 4 hour walk that takes you through the gates of National Park and then heads east-west along a track through the forest that leads to Toka and then down to the Cottage.

We are also available over night stays as well.

Regards

Steve

Hi Julie (and others),

We'd be interested in going on a hike -- Sunday's better, but maybe Saturday, too. Let me know the plans. Also, we have a car and are in Jawalakhel, so if anyone needs a lift, just let us know -- we have to pass a lot of places to get to Budhanilakantha! :-)

Hey all,

So, we would be (at least) Julie, Shelley, Mim, Sally + X and me (Peter) for this Sunday !! Time would be 8.30. Julie, I have never been there, can you describe more or less precisely where to met up? Sally, if you can manage, I d like to join in the car (ShangriLa Hotel).

Looking forward for this hike!

peter

Sure, Peter, we can pick you up -- we'll go right by there.

If anyone else is up for bringing older kids, let me know and we'll bring our 15-year-old. Otherwise, it's me and my husband (Homraj).
