ENTERPRISE RISK MANAGEMENT  TRAINING WORKSHOP

St Anne’s Guest House - Durban

26-27 October 2010

Learners will receive a certificate of attendance.

R4 809.75 pp (No VAT charged)

Enterprise risk management (ERM) is a managerial function that must be integrated with organisational (strategic and operational) processes.  Gone are the days when risk management was managed in separate ‘silos’ alongside managerial functions, such as fire and safety, loss control, internal audit, occupational health and safety, legal compliance, fraud prevention, project risk management and other managerial functions.  The King III Code on Governance stipulates that ERM is the responsibility of all managers on all levels, and should be practised by all staff on a daily base.

How are these functions integrated into a single managerial support function?  What does the ERM process entail?  What is the relationship between ERM and strategy formulation?

This workshop on ERM explains it all.

Who should attend?

All managers, especially operational managers, line managers and project managers;  internal audit staff, risk managers, occupational health and safety officers, risk managers, legal compliance officers and all supporting staff responsible for the functions related to risk management.

Presenter:  Mr Viljoen van der Walt

Mr. Viljoen vd Walt is a experienced operational risk manager with extensive training and experience in strategic and operational risk management.  He obtained extensive operational, training and managerial experience as a career officer in the SANDF, after which he was appointed as the head of the Risk Management Department at Stellenbosch University.  He holds a B Mil (Military Science) degree from the SA Military Academy, an advanced certificate in risk management as well as a post graduate qualification in Economics, both from UNISA and a MBA from Stellenbosch University Business School (USB).  He is currently enrolled as a PhD student at the USB, researching the relationship and value-adding characteristics between ERM and strategic management.  He offers a perfect match between operational experience and academic tuition.
