Where is the "asides" code?

I'm really sorry if this is a stupid question, but which template file
contains the code for inline asides? I've searched what seems like
every possible template and can't find where WP calls the asides
class, etc.

To clarify further, I'd just like to be able to tweak how the Asides
are displayed on the index page, add timestamps, etc.

Most of it is purely CSS, with the exception of a single permalink function in /app/includes/display.php which outputs the (X) permalink w. comment-count inside. And then there's the sidebar widget in /app/includes/widgets.php, but that's separate.
