Thank you for showing us Pakaranga College Library last Wednesday. I have now become a semi-confident modem user. Thank you for k12 number it is much more friendly than Schools net. My principal was interested in my quick report on our ACE visit and is interested in seeing your library and two or three others in the Auckland area as we want to upgrade the Rangitoto College Library in terms of space and information technology. Would you mind another visit from me and the Boss? Can you suggest any other schools to visit?

Amanda,

You are more than welcome to visit Torbay primary and see how we are
using info technology.  Also, in case Liz hasn't invited you, please
feel free to join us at the next T/C users meeting at Manurewa High on
18th October at 4pm.

You obviously are not aware that Rangitoto is ALREADY on k12Net.  has
been for several years - just not active.  The FIDO address is
3:772/1.18  The school can be re-activated very quickly.  I would be
happy to do this for you. Can also install a BBS identical to Pakurangas
- I did that one as well. All this for FREE.

I live (and work at home) in Browns Bay so timing is not critical.  I am
listed in the phone book or my number can be gained from Liz or Torbay
Primary or Long Bay College or Northcross Intermediate...........

I am setting up Northcote College this Sunday.  Next week I do have time
if you are interested.  (Also run training for staff/students on K12
etc).

I can be contacted via this medium, phone, SchoolsNet (TALBOTI) or
Internet (si...@iconz.co.nz)

           73 de Ian.

My   pleasure Amanda and I would be very happy with another visit. You might like to contact the National Library Secondary Advisers as they are visiting libraries all the time. Let me know when you want to come, Regards liz

A quick hello about libraries, K12 and technology.   I live 3 doors away from Rangitoto (and run a nightclass in computers on Mondays at the College).

I help out at the other end of Sunrise Avenue down at Murrays Bay Primary,  having set the classrooms there up on K12 with the variety of machines that primary schools tend to collect.

There's a new 486 in our library running a standard library package that I hope to see networked around the school one day.  Ken Pemberton, the principal, led a principals' team around USA/Canada earlier this year to check out technologically-advanced schools.

I suspect that some advantage might come from inter-visits here, so if you care to talk to Ken direct or to chat with me,  please feel free. If this echo doesn't suit,  I or my answerphone am on 478-3138 24hrs....

:-))
