I took the AP Art History class in high school (in 1990). Our teacher
spent the first half of the school year mostly lecturing with slides. We
had to keep a journal where we had to take notes from her lecture and
from the chapters in the text book which we turned in each Friday. We
had to sketch the artworks that she showed us as slides in our notes to
use as study guides for the AP test in May.
The second semester we started taking mock AP tests, writing essays and
identifying art works from slides. When the test was over (what a
relief!) we used the last couple weeks of school to paint replicas of
art works. I did the Clowness Cha-U-Kao by LaTrec.
We all did quite well on the test; I think we all got 3s or higher. I
got a 3.
