Hello,

I have a set of latitude and longitude coordinates that form an irregular closed shape or border. I'm trying to find an algorithm to determine if my position is inside this irregular shape. The shapes vary from round, oval, to something looking like a fat five pointed star.

These shapes are actually satellite beams on the earth and I'm trying to calculate if I am located within a particular beam. I have all the lat/long points that outline the beam, but just not sure how to determine if I am inside that beam.

If you have an idea or formula, would be much appreciated.

Thanks!
