Greetings.

Some of you may recall that I am a fifth grade teacher. Over the summer, I am
working on a project to make my biography notes more intriguing by including
some art. I am looking for art (in electronic format) to represent the
following historical figures:

Queen Isabella I (of Castile)*
Queen Elizabeth I (England)
Prince Henry, the Navigator (of Portugal)*
Cristobal Colón (Christopher Columbus)
Anne Hutchinson*
William Penn
Pocahontas*
Sir Walter Raleigh
Phyllis Wheatley*
Daniel Boone
Ben Franklin
Thomas Jefferson
Crispus Attucks*
George Washington
Abigail Adams
Sacajawea
Harriet Tubman*
Chief Black Hawk
Mark Twain (Samuel Langhorne Clemons
George Washington Carver
Emily Dickinson
Dolley Madison
Sojourner Truth
Frederick Douglass
Elizabeth Cady Stanton
Susan B. Anthony
Jane Addams
Robert E. Lee
Abraham Lincoln
Benito Juarez*
Laura Ingalls Wilder *
Elenor Roosevelt
Cesar Chavez
Diego Rivera
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Rosa Parks

The asterisks represent those subjects who have been most elusive in my
searches.

The art might be portraits or photographs, but it could also include other
sorts of regalia, such as regional or historical maps directly related to the
subjects.

If you have visual material on these persons, I would like to have it. If you
know of good sites for such material (such as American Memory), I would
appreciate knowing about them.

Obviously, this is not a binary newsgroup, so please, if you are in possession
of materials and so inclined, send jpg's and the like directly to my address.
Advice on sites should, naturally, be shared with the entire group.

Thanks again.

As ever,

Who'd rather do this than clean out the garage

Thanks so much, Jim. The material on Isabella was quite new to me. Both the
Attucks and Juarez portraits had better color than the ones I had. Very much
appreciated.

(I have a lot to do inside the house before I can think about the garage, but
still I'd rather do this.)

Clean house? Is there such a thing as a clean house?

I thought so. I love Google and Dogpile... they are my two favorites.

There is such a thing as a clean house, but only temporarily.

Ah, yes. I understand; you vacuum the carpet today and in a month or two
you have to do it all over again.

Jim Wayne
who is a bachelor, as you can probably tell.
