I've been getting an error recently when trying to create an account
against my mail server. The error is as follows:

Unrecognized Certificate
Cannot safely connect to server.
(Read error: ssl=0x5307b0: Failure in SSL library, usually a protocol
error)
Certificate chain[0]:
Subject: CN=mail.2bithacker.net
Issuer: OID.
1.2.840.113549.1.9.1=#1612737570706F7274406361636572742E6F7267, CN=CA
Cert Signing Authority, OU=http://www.cacert.org, O=Root CA
Fingerprint (SHA-1): 67471bcba824a1f18d77999dad765aa6cf3460b3

Pressing "Accept Key" doesn't do anything, the same alert just pops up
again.

Phone info:
Motorola Droid X on Verizon Wireless
K-9 Mail Version: 4.006
Android Version: 2.3.4
System Version: 4.5.621.MB810.Verizon.en.US

Server info:
FreeBSD 8.2-RELEASE
OpenSSL 1.0.0g 18 Jan 2012
dovecot 1.2.17

I've done some searching and it appears that this was a known issue
with earlier versions of Android talking to newer OpenSSL, but it
looks like it should have been resolved in Android 2.3.4.

Any ideas for what I can do to resolve this? I miss having my mail on
my phone!

hi

sry this is a known issue in our bugtracker - but sofar we havn't found
a solution yet. Thx for the hint that it may depend on the openssl version.

But i fear we can't workaround this stuff.

Ah, that's disappointing. Just as another data point then, I've had no
issues with another FreeBSD 8.2 server that's running OpenSSL 0.9.8q.

If there's anything I can do to help debug, let me know, and feel free
to try connecting to mail.2bithacker.net with SSL or TLS on the imap/
imaps ports for testing.
