The new, higher resolution icon looks better, but I don't think a
picture of K9 from Doctor Who is a really good fit for the Android
Icon Guidelines - it certainly doesn't really illustrate what K9 Mail
is for.

I have created an alternative icon that I use for K9 that is based on
the template for the Gmail and Email applications, and attempts to
identify K9 as a mail-related application. It was created from
scratch, although based on the Google icons, so I hope there would be
no lciensing issues, and I would be happy to release it to the project
if they so desired.

I have created it as a Vector file, and it can be scaled to whatever
resolution is desired.

Thank you!

I have uploaded two alternative versions. One with a grey envelope, to
stay true to K9-mail's traditional icon colours of grey and red, and
one with an alternative text label as opposed to the paw-print.

I like k9-mail-icon-grey best and vote for changing our icon to that.

I like the gray one too but I would like to keep the Dr Who dog around
even if it is only very small within the enveloppe instead of the
pawn.

Didn't see the proposed icons yet...but, I have a certain fondness for old K-9 ("...affirmative!").
Since the whole idea behind Android is personalization, where is there any mandate for icon conformity?
I think a touch of whimsy is a plus; and, adds personality to a great application.

Just my opinion.

I appreciate the effort put into the proposed icon, but K-9's icon is
going to continue to be Dr Who's four-wheeled friend.
