This is a two-day summer workshop to provide experience with and demystify hands-on electronics, wearable tech and 3D printing. Participants will hear from cutting-edge practitioners in the field about what is possible in the world of Making for education in both general and specific ways. Attending parents, hobbyists, teachers, administrators and informal education professionals will then have opportunities to get hands-on experience with the traditional tools and materials of making from experts in the area.
The first day will start with a keynote by Karen Wilkinson, author of Invent to Learn, and focus on talks to inspire what is possible.
On the second day, participants will get hands-on experience with key maker technologies through two half-day workshops.
There will be exhibitors both days.
Participants will:
Gain hands-on experience and get practical suggestions on how to use technologies like 3D printing, Laser Cutters, Arduinos, and electronics of varying sophistication in your classroom or innovative lab.
Learn what the “Making” craze is all about if you are a beginner, or improve skills & knowledge if you are already involved.
Make connections and network with like-minded educators interested in the maker movement.
Find out what’s involved in creating spaces and installing equipment with these new technologies.
