Hi JUGers,

I just received an email from Maxime Nowak, a friend of the Geneva
Jug, who is organizing an event called Soft-Shake. As you can read
from his email that I am copying below, he is looking for speakers for
that event. The CFP will be open until the 1st of August.

Personally I think I won't have time to send a CFP, but I hope I could
take a free day to attend to the event. So let me know if somebody
else is interested to go, in order to eventually organize a trip
together.

If you want more details about the event, don't hesitate to contact
me.

Bye
Mario

I'm sending you a mail to give you more details on the conference Soft-
Shake which is about Software Development.

I'm in charge of the Java track with Xavier Bourguignon and Marc-Elian
Bégin.
Every members of Soft-Shake can give their opinion on the Incubator
track.

Soft-Shake will take place the 18th October in Geneva. Unfortunately,
we didn't manage to take some conference room at Cern, some conference
had already booked the rooms. We have created Soft-Shake to talk about
Software Development in a global manner and open minds on different
languages, technologies, methodologies.
For this year, we have planned 4 tracks : Java, Agile, iPhone and
Incubator. We hope we can make this event for the next year with more
tracks and more sessions for each tracks. We're waiting for between
200 and 250 people to this one day event.

Each local User Group or association support its track :

Java → GenevaJUG
Agile → AgileSwiss Association
iPhone → le groupe des développeurs iPhone de Suisse Romande

I hope we'll have a lot of interesting sessions in the Incubator track
like NoSQL, WebSockets, ...

If you want to propose a session you can fill in this form :

Sorry for the first stupid question, but ... :-) I assume the even is
in english, right?

Second question (not stupid :-): about the logistics, is Genève
expensive (hotels, parkings...)? BTW, I know the french portion of the
lake and, if my paper is selected, I could take the chance to spend a
few days of vacation. My favorite place is about 50km east of Geneve,
and depending on the agenda booking an hotel there could work or not
(that is: if I must be early in the morning at Genève, maybe it would
be not feasible, etc...).

Thanks!

Hi Fabrizio,

I am copying and paste below the answers of Maxime.

Bye

For the sessions at Soft-Shake, it will depend on the speakers who
will answer to our call for paper. Our desire is that an English
listener can follow sessions during all day in English switching
between all the tracks. They may also see some presentations that
they won't attend normally.

For the moment in the Java track I have two speakers that have
answered to our call for paper in English. I hope that there will be
more session in English, at least half sessions.
Right now, I can't tell you more but I can keep you in touch as the
Speakers will respond to our Call For Paper.

For hotel rooms, I've chosen 2 hotels.
One is in Switzerland in the Geneva country http://www.cartignyhotel.ch/pdf/8.pdf
. We have visited him with Jacques Couvreur, and the person who holds
the hotel told us that if we gave him a phone call, it call make the
price about 10% lesser.
The second is Hotel Ibis in Archamps in France : http://www.ibishotel.com
It's near the Swiss Boarder and the highway, you can get really
quickly in Geneva. I've tried to book a room for the 17th-18th October
and it's from 44,60 € with no cancellation and if you booked the room
20 days before, the normal price is 64,60 €
