friends...
At JUGCAM we started translation on Joomla back in Nov 2008, having contacted and corresponded with the Joomla translation team leads, under Joomla direction we consolidated all known translation teams, worked hard to create an inclusive unit and invited everyone who showed an interest to join the team. that democratic process is slow and cumbersome, yet in the long run it is essential in the goal of creating one team, one package and one vision for Khmer localization for Cambodia.
The Joomla translation team failed us in not contacting us to let us know when another team they were working with was pursuing localization, they then disregarded our earlier efforts and assigned the translation focal point the a new-coming group. that is where the issue resides. It is a sad situation which would have been quickly taken care of had Joomla! translation team done the right thing and notified us from the start, yet we must deal with what we have and try to come to an amiable solution.
I am not Cambodian and do not understand Cambodian people so well... Samdy Lonh is the highest appointed authority of JUGCAM in Cambodia, he is working on the issue, please defer to him as most of this issue is about Cambodian people, Cambodian culture, and it is up to Cambodians to drop their pride and find a solution that appeases the unfortunate situation that I described above.
Personally localization is not my interest, I did all I could to help Cambodia in setting up this group, helping to meander the issues and set the stage, yet it is up to you Cambodians to solve internal issues and make sure JUGCAM remains an honest organization, dedicated to helping Cambodians in a fair and fruitful manner.
Please defer to Samdy Lonh for all such questions and please understand that I cannot further involve myself in this issue as I am a virtual participate, I cannot meet the players face to face to understand what their intentions are, monitor deviation for agreed standards and appease the stakeholders..
the correct thing would have been for Joomla to assign JUGCAM the focal point for Khmer translation as JUGCAM started first, built a team and was working diligently on the translation all the while working hard to bring as many people interested in translation together. This resulted in slow work, but it built a community, we are saddened that Joomla made the unfortunate mistake of assigning another group that status, but unless something is done at the Joomla level we have this issue to work with and Samdy Lonh as the VP of JUGCAm is in charge of setting the direction to solve the problem.
