Hi Tim,

I got this idea of moving Jugcam to a more better advanced way, by
having a jugcam forum (www.jugcam.org) so we could easily access
various and solved issues on issues of Joomla.

Don't know if it is a good idea.

I will like to know if its okey with the group. so as time goes on
when will set up Joomla cambodia, we will cont. using jugcam as our
forum link.

As i believe this will be a push forward to help use build a more
functional group rather than being static.

Some of the features of the proposed jugcam forum if approved will include;

Membership profile.

Forum.

User will receive an email notification once a topic is posted on the forum.

It will serve not only users of the forum but also beneficiary to the
rest of the world. as people could access various topics from the
forum and respond which makes it more different than googlegroups
where by only members could make response to asked questions.

Also, different  rooms will be created in teaching various Joomla topics

and lots more.

Hope to get feedback from all Jugcam members.

regards,

Ignatius Enahoro Ofagbe

Hope to get feedback from you and all our jugcam members!

How about a Cambodian Computer Users Group, using Social Networking
Software?

There was an attempt to establish an IT Industry group a couple of years
ago that got bogged down with rules and constitutions etc..., so I do not
propose to go down that road.

In it's simplest form, a web page listing all the user groups (e.g.
jugcam, Phnom Penh Linux Group, etc.) and their contact details in one
place.

In a more complex form, using Elgg - some social networking software.

The current version of Elgg is 0.92, and has been renamed Elgg Classic.
The new Elgg 1.0 is due 'Summer 08' - so cannot be far away.

Elgg yes

Elgg yes

Elgg yes. I made a modification so it would send the message rather than
a notification. This works outside of the forum, but I would have to
check within the forum.

I find it quite annoying to get a notification, log into a site and find
a message like:

"Hi - I'm a beautiful, bored 18 year old female. Lets chat"

Elgg yes :-)

There is a module for personal and group Wiki's and File storage. RSS
feeds can be published to the blog. The Forum software has as lot of
modules - a email list <-> forum module would be good. You can also add
and share URLs.

I have a version working at http://community.saksaathmey.net, but I have
not been paying it much attention - I am waiting for 1.0. Version 9 is
pretty hard to work with, and not even HTML 3 :-(

I have just noticed I still have some links to a beta site (even though
it is still beta) that I hard coded out of frustration.

Anyway, there is a site built by the developers that shows some of the
capabilities of new version at http://unltdworld.com/

www.jugcam.org could either point to www.ccug.net/jugcam (eg
http://community.saksaathmey.net/sitenews/) or its own (Joomla?) page
and, through the magic of RSS, exchange content.

I go and search other sites (google groups, for example) for 'ICT,
education, cambodia' etc. and get so many results - most of which are
not relevant - that just a page listing groups and useful links would be
good :-)

Unless it exists already ....

I also find that the big social networking sites are so cluttered with
trivia that finding 'good stuff' is difficult.

Anyway - any thoughts would be appreciated ....
