0.7 Released - Now is a very good time to provide feedback

Guys

Brian and I have released 0.7 of JSR107.

Many issues have been closed. See https://github.com/jsr107/jsr107spec/issues?direction=desc&page=1&sort=created&state=closed

We are now in wrap up. Things we are working on over the next few weeks:

1. Review points from Terracotta Engineering

2. Review points from Coherence Engineering (they are implementing now)

3. 5 open issues. See https://github.com/jsr107/jsr107spec/issues?direction=desc&page=1&sort=created&state=open

In the next two to four weeks we plan to do a 0.8 release which we will then use to complete the spec and submit the next draft.

We need you to provide your review points or raise issues in the next few weeks. Please set aside some time to have a good look at it.

Hi Greg,

Is annotation support complete in version 0.7?

Couple of months ago Brian indicated that (https://github.com/jsr107/jsr107spec/pull/59#issuecomment-14730030) that annotation work was not complete. I'd like to know the current state of annotation work.

We made a small change to rename two of the annotations and fixed a few defects.

All providers now run against the API - which wasn't the case until recently.

We're looking to make some changes as to how the TCK uses the providers for testing, but apart from that it's complete as far as I can tell - until we get more feedback that is.

Lastly it's important to realize that the spec will not ship annotation provider implementations. The spec will only contain the Annotations themselves. It's up to implementors of containers / frameworks to implement them as they should work with any compliant implementation of JSR-107. That is, an implementor of JSR-107 is not required to provide Annotation support. Containers/Frameworks that provide Annotation support should work will all compliant implementations of JSR-107.
