"key components of marriage is and always will be the (*potential*) ability
to reproduce naturally"
That is the last gasp argument clung to by the religious right. Every claim
they made about the impending doom of traditional marriage once gays
started marrying has proven false. Vermont approved gay marriage in 2004,
and 6 more since, and the world didn't collapse, heteros are still getting
married, having kids, getting divorced and other normal hetero behavior.
Large number of heteros haven't turned suddenly gay or committed suicide
out of despair. The hand of God didn't turn Vermont into a pile of sand,
deluge with water, incinerate or other wise crush Vermont for their
supposed trespasses.
So you claim its all about procreation. But, as other have already stated,
many married folk never procreate. Many unmarried folks do. In large
numbers in both categories. Your argument is demonstrably false. As is your
argument that marriage has been defined as between one man and one woman
for all time.
The fact is, the bible very clearly shows that the God of Abraham was just
fine with men with multiple wives. If you can't even get the facts straight
on your own theology, what makes you think you can shove your re-written,
faux-Christian theology down the throats of Americans who don't share your
misguided faith? What makes you thing we'll let that happen any longer?
I stayed up late last night watching Barney Frank handing Tony Perkins his
ass on just this same discussion. Apparently Barney knows more about the
bible than that wing bag of a self-appointed morality hall monitor.
And, yes, I brought up the bible because its what you base your entire way
of life on, and what you and your ilk intend to impose on the rest of
America - government driven by a religious ideology not actually based on
your own scriptures, but one you warp to match your bigoted, homophobic,
misogonystic belief system.
As has been said many times by many people this week, you are on the wrong
side of history, But you already know that. That's why the rabid dogs of
conservatism have so forcefully imposed their anti-choice, anti-labor,
anti-immigrant, anti-gay agenda - instead of working on jobs bills as
promised - since the last election. They know that whites in general, and
white men in particular, will soon be a minority in this country, with the
brown folk outnumbering whitey in a few short years. They know that
acceptance of gays\lesbians and same sex marriage has grown by leaps and
bounds over the past 4-5 years, and is now supported by the majority. You
know the young overwhelmingly accept the idea of same sex marriage. You
know that your way of life is dying because of its own failings, not
because of any outside influence from the liberal left.
You were lead to believe that Christian White Men would rule this country,
and through the use of our military power, the world, until the time of
Christ's return. And you're starting to realize that was a lie. And you and
your friends in the Aryan nation are freaking out and lashing out in one
last attempt to save your grip on power. Well, Jesus aint coming back, and
the People of The Sun are coming back around again - slowly reclaiming the
land taken from the by force a few centuries ago.
I for one welcome our future gay brown skinned overlords. Diversity is the
key to evolution. Its time for the America of the Christian White Male to
die so that humanity can evolve. We're coming for you Brent.

In other words, sterile or barren hetero marriages are an abomination.
The stupid. It hurts.
