So he doesn't look like a flippin' idiot.

Man, she needed notes scrawled on her hand to answers softballs lobbed at her at a Tea party convention?  Pathetic.  Obama needed nothing of any kind to systematically pick apart the GOP on their own turf.

Wow.   You liberals are really scared of her aren't you.  She writes a few key points on the palm of her hand.  Really no biggie.  As usual, the liberals are grasping_at_straws!

At least she didn't set up a teleprompter in a classroom to talk with school kids.  What's funny is that when sites like the Huffpo point this out.  More people end up hearing her...which is never a bad thing, IMHO!

Well, one thing's for sure, it won't be Mitch Landrieu.

I wasn't going to post this, as the fewer people who talk about this the better.  After all, no Democrats are supposed to win elections this year.  Especially not ones with the last name "Landreiu" in the state of Louisiana....

http://www.nola.com/politics/index.ssf/2010/02/mitch_landrieu_wins_new_orlean.html

Mitch Landrieu wins New Orleans mayor's race

Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu appears to have routed five major challengers in today's mayoral primary, riding a sense of regret among voters who rejected him four years ago and extraordinary biracial support to claim a rare first-round victory.

With 90 of the city's 366 precincts counted, Landrieu had 64 percent of the vote. His closest challenger, businessman Troy Henry, had 15 percent.

When he takes office May 6, Landrieu will become the city's first white chief executive since his father, Moon Landrieu, left the job in 1978. Early analysis shows that Mitch Landrieu's victory owed to widespread crossover voting by African-Americans, who make up two-thirds of the city's residents.

Because of that disparity, Landrieu predicted recently that his election could be an "uneasy moment" for black residents who still feel politically and economically disenfranchised.

Making his third bid for City Hall's top job, Landrieu picked up enough votes to avoid a runoff that appeared to be a near-certainty just two months ago. So definitive was his win that political pundits declared Landrieu the victor just a half-hour after the polls closed, with the first of his opponents conceding before 9 p.m.

His victory cements the Landrieu clan's status as Louisiana's preeminent political dynasty.

As Landrieu, 49, a four-term state lawmaker from Broadmoor who has served as Louisiana's No. 2 official for six years, prepares to assume what is arguably the most powerful political job in the New Orleans region, his sister, U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu, begins her 13th year in the U.S. Senate. Another sister, Madeleine, sits on the Civil District Court bench.

Landrieu's most formidable opponents included management consultant Troy Henry, a first-time candidate who pumped about $500,000 of his own money into his bid, and businessman John Georges, who invested at least $3.4 million from his personal fortune.

Henry, who is black, highlighted his credentials as a top corporate executive, and also sought to play up concerns in the African-American community that white politicians recently have won various local elective offices that had long been held by black officials.

Mayor Ray Nagin, who could not seek re-election because of term limits, pushed a similar message in recent weeks, though he stopped short of making an endorsement in the race.

Georges, who finished third in the 2007 governor race with 14 percent of the vote, campaigned on his business acumen, vowing to run City Hall like the family business he built into a $1 billion enterprise.

Henry, who appears headed for a second-place finish, conceded at around 9:30 p.m.

"I just hung up the phone with Mitch and wished him a great congratulations," he said. "Mitch is going to be a fantastic mayor. I'm going to support him in any way he needs. It's up to us to make New Orleans a great city. I want to make sure I do my part to make sure Mitch is a successful mayor. As he goes, so we go, and so the city goes."

Georges, who appears headed for a third-place finish, conceded before 9 p.m., wishing Landrieu success and urging New Orleanians to come together.

"Today is a great day for New Orleans," Georges said. "The Saints are going to the Super Bowl, and we're going to have a new mayor."

The businessman said he called Landrieu and congratulated him on his primary win. Tomorrow, he said, he would be on his way to Miami to watch the game.Among the other major contenders in the 11-candidate field were fair-housing advocate James Perry, attorney Rob Couhig and former Civil Court Judge Nadine Ramsey. All are Democrats except Couhig, a Republican who also ran four years ago.

Landrieu's win Saturday marks the first time in the city's modern history that a mayoral race not featuring an incumbent was settled in the primary. The current open-primary system, in which the top two finishers regardless of party advance to a runoff, dates to 1975. Before that, party primaries and runoffs preceded a general election, which pitted the party standard-bearers.

Only once since then has a New Orleans mayoral election not produced a runoff. That was in 1998, when Marc Morial attracted only token opposition in his quest for a second term.

Landrieu inherits a fits-and-starts recovery, a stubborn crime problem and a fragile city budget that already has been slashed in key areas. He also trades in his high-profile but relatively powerless statewide post, which is largely responsible for tourism.

Oh, and Brent, for once can you respond with a truthful response?  Prior to Friday, had you ever heard of this Cohen guy?  Really?

I find it interesting that although he had no prior political experience, he was able to beat several veteran politicians in the primary.  Maybe his record of successful job creation played a part of his success.  Whew, we sure dodged a bulelt with that!  AS Sen. Judd Gregg has made clear, the alst thing this country needs are more jobs created!

And for the record, do you merely support politicians that frequent prostitutes, not ones that get in fights with them?

"Really no biggie"

Uhhh really? after all that teleprompter BS back when Rush was supposed to "debate" Obama...and now its ok to use crib notes? Sorry Brent, but your hypocrisy is showing again...

First of all its ok for people to use teleprompters and note cards and cue cards while on TV or giving a speech..no problemo...got something complex to deal with?, you may need some notes...but for 3 reasons this is just so telling of Palin's stupidity....r u ready Brent...

1. writing on your hand is not a teleprompter or note cards...its childish and un-professional, and never have i seen a political figure do it...and refer to them in such a way, as to make them look sneaky..i just have never seen it happen...seems like she is a rookie

2. what she scribbled on her hand was so idiotic and stupid...if these were truly her talking points as a true politician...why would it be so hard for her to remember these simple points? I can hear it now..."its hard being up there in front of all those lights..yada yada"..but that's what a politician is expected to do, be in front of the TV and give a speech about what they truly believe in....oh, and without crib notes.....

3. the simplicity of the notes themselves speaks volumes. If you write these simple things on your hand as not to "forget them"...(energy, tax, and lift American Spirits)...if she had to be reminded of these things what is she really thinking? What talking points does she not need notes for...its probably something like " stop abortion, stop welfare, prayer in public schools, keep drilling for oil"... she probably does not need any crib notes for that shit...but to fool the American Citizens into voting her into any office...she does need to cheat.

Bush used a hearing device in one of his debates with John Kerry. He swore he was not using such a device, but it was funny to see a square projective bulge in his back. It was also funny to see and hear him arguing with the person who was directing the comments and answers to him. It was also funny to hear him say "I want to respond to that question" before the question was even asked. How on earth was this person elected? Oh, yes, fraudulent voting booths, denying votes in Democratic counties from being counted, having a brother certify Florida before fraud could be investigated, and Supreme Court appointed by Republicans certify Bush while ignoring cases of fraud brought by citizens whose constitutional rights were ignored!
ciao,
Bill

True Bill...Bush IS smarter than Palin...sad isn't it...its like the Reps are de-evolving at the podium right before our eyes...it went from Bush to Huckabee to Palin..WOW...if that doesn't tell ya where the party is headed i just don't know...where does it go from there? Elmo?..LOL

At least Bush was smart enough to realize, "if yer gonna cheat...don't get caught"...hide that shit with a state of the art wireless earpiece!...the whole problem with that tho, is similar to Palin's...it brings up the question: "the Pres himself isn't smart enough to get through a debate without the CIA hooking him up with an earpiece?"...

Suggestions for Palin:

1. Get some cue cards set up by the camera so while your reading, it looks like yer looking at the camera.
2. Stop with the teleprompter remarks towards Obama, as it only makes you look hypocritical as you read for the tea baggers Convention anyway.
3. Get a Tattoo on yer palm that says, "Tell The Truth, Stop spinning what the GOP tells ya"

"Liberals freaking out?"  I'm sorry to break the news to you, Brent, but I'm freaking out about as much as you're not racist.

The only people she has eating out her hand are the conservatives that run conservatives4palin.  And there aint a dim bulb in that bunch!

Its find if she wants to use obvious crib notes that any seventh grader worth their salt would do better than.  Here's a rule of thumb: this means that you can never mention teleprompter again.  If you do, my only response will be: telepalmer.

I think you are misconstruing why I mention her.  Since she's a joke, she's worth being mocked.  Being threatened by her would mean I'd have to take her seriously.  And trust me, there's no one I dismiss more out of hand than Caribou Barbie.

Trust me as well, I do hope she runs for President, thus ensuring Obama would sleepwalk to re-election.

When Palin said that Obama was "0-for-3" in regards to election results, did she purposefully overlook NY-23?

Did Mitch Landreiu's anti-health care rhetoric help him in win the New Orleans' mayoral race in a land slide?

You're sounding a bit desperate...holding up a mayoral race from a city that has a strong history of only electing democrats.

Now, if you want to call NY-23 a victory.  Go for it.  As I recall rino, Scozzafozza stepped aside at the last minute and endorsed the democrat who barely won.  I can't even remember the democrats name, not that it matters much, they're just keeping the seat warm for a few more months.

But if that is the 'victory' you need to cling to...go for it.

New Orleans hasn't elected a Republican Mayor since 1872...so Palin correctly overlooked the mayoral race when she stated that Obummer is "0 for 3"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mayors_of_New_Orleans  And despite the Saints winning...New Orleans is not the major city it once was.  In fact, it is smaller than Tulsa, Oklahoma, and only slightly bigger than Spokane.

The only people that are threatened by Sarah Palin are Republicans. They know they need her followers to win in an election, and her followers are so stupid and dumb that Sarah scares the crap out of them. The more popular Sarah gets the more realization their party is made up of idiots. This would mean that not only could they not best Obama in a give and take policy discussion, they would have to pretend they have no idea about what they are talking about, just to appeal to Sarah and her followers. That is not a direction I would want my party to go in either.

When you consider the fact that this is the best we can expect from a "moderate Republican" along with the fact that despite the best efforts from Brent and teabaggers in rooting for Obama and America to fail, the President is actually succeeding in changing many facets of American public policy, if I was a Republican and had to be tasked with facing this unruly self-proclaimed "mob" I would be worried and acting like an incoherent idiot as well.

Oh yes, it was Vitter who was up for re-election.  The candidate who frequents prostitutes that you approve of.

It will be interesting to see if voters in Arkansas, a state whose economy is largely dependent on its agricultural sector, will oust Sen. Lincoln, who is the current chair of the Senate Ag Committee.  Nothing like cutting off your own nose to spite your face!  That's why I'm curious as to what the results in Nevada will be, and if the citizens decide to be represented by a lame-duck Sen. Ensign and a lowly ranked junior Senator from the minority party, thus effectively dropping from the #1 most influential state to #50.

Because, lets not forget, "elections have consequences."

Anyone want to bother to point out that Emmanuel was the one who used the term ironically while it was Rush that used it matter-of-factly?  And anyone want to bother to point out who got a pass from the newly crowned Queen of PC Speech?

Colbert: ‘Palin is a f — ing retard. Get it?’

February 9th, 2010

From Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report:

Following the logic of Sarah Palin’s defense of Rush Limbaugh, political humorist Stephen Colbert says Palin’s supporters should defend her by calling her a “f — ing retard.”   Transcript follows.

Colbert: … It reminds me to give Sarah Palin a big thumbs-up for standing up for the little guy. Rush Limbaugh. Last week, Sarah Palin rightfully demanded the resignation of White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel for calling liberal Democrats “f — ing retarded.”

Well, El Rushbo used the R-word himself when talking about liberal Democrats. Jim?

Video from Rush Limbaugh Show dated Feb. 3, 2010

Limbaugh: Our political correct society is acting like a giant insult has taken place by calling a bunch of people who are retards, retards. So now there’s going to be a meeting. There’s going to be a retard summit at the White House..

Colbert: But Sarah Palin explains to Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday why that’s okay.

Video from Fox News Sunday dated Feb. 7, 2010

Palin: Rush Limbaugh was using satire to bring attention to what this politically correct ..

Wallace: He used the R-word …

Palin: Used in satire … I didn’t hear Rush Limbaugh calling a group of people whom he did not agree with “f — ing retards.” And we did know that Rahm Emanuel, it’s been reported, did say that. There’s a big difference there.

Colbert: Thank you. Big difference. It was satire. Listen to Rush Limbaugh talk about the Democrats again.

Video from Rush Limbaugh Show dated Feb. 3, 2010

Limbaugh: Our political correct society is acting like a giant insult has taken place by calling a bunch of people who are retards, retards. So now there’s going to be a meeting. There’s going to be a retard summit at the White House..

Colbert: It’s so subtle, see. There’s so many layers. And Sarah Palin knows that it is okay to call someone a retard if, like Rush, you clearly don’t mean it. Which is why we should all come to her defense and say: Sarah Palin is a f–ing retard. Get it? You see? It’s satire.

NEW YORK (The Borowitz Report) - The Fox News Channel, which has already signed Sarah Palin to a deal as an on-air commentator, today deepened their commitment to the former Alaska governor by signing her hand as well.

"We were very impressed with the job her hand did at the Tea Party Convention," Fox News chief Roger Ailes said. "And we said to ourselves, let's give Sarah Palin's hand a job."

Governor Palin's hand was not available to reporters, but it did release an official statement about its new job with Fox News.

"I am thrilled to be joining the Fox News team," Gov. Palin's hand said in the statement. "No one is better at giving Republicans' hand jobs than Fox." More here.
