Has anyone seen these bumper stickers or T-shirts yet? http://www.buzzfeed.com/ashleytalong/psalm-1098-bumper-sticker-hpz

Alex is right, the God-Freaks are absolutely disgusting people. Apparently, this is the latest thing in "Debasing The Institutions You Pretend To Hold Dear In Order To Suggest That President Barack Obama Should Be Murdered Without Actually Coming Right Out And Saying So." The bumper sticker says "Pray for Obama", but the Pslams reference is just another in a long line of cheekily coded Obama death threats:
Psalms 109:8 "May his days be few; may another take his place of leadership.

which of course leads into:

Psalms 109:9 "May his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow."
There is actually more threatening about thinly veiled Christian Death Threat. What is most frightening right now is that you have a ramping up of Biblical language, language from the anti-abortion movement for instance, death panels and this sort of thing, and what it's coalescing into is branding Obama as Hitler, as they have already called him. And something foreign to our shores, we're reminded of that, he's born in Kenya. As brown, as black, above all, as not us. He is Sarah Palin's "not a real American." But now, it turns out, he joins the ranks of the unjust kings of ancient Israel, unjust rulers to which all these Biblical allusions are directed who should be slaughtered, if not by God, then by just men. So there's a parallel here with Timothy McVeigh's t-shirt on the day of the Oklahoma City bombing. He said the tree of liberty had to be watered by the blood of tyrants. That quote, we saw at a meeting where Obama was present carried on a placard by someone with a loaded weapon.

What we're looking at right now is two things going on. We see the evangelical groups enthralled by an apocalyptic vision. They represent the millions of people who have turned the Left Behind series into best sellers. These people are full on crazy and they belong to a crazy fringe to whom all these little messages that have been pouring out of Fox News, now on a bumper sticker, talking about doing away with Obama, asking God to kill him. Really, this is trolling for assassins. This is serious business.

It's un-American. It's unpatriotic. And it goes to show that the religious right, the Republican far right have coalesced into a group who truly want American revolution. If it turns out to be blood in the streets and death, so be it. It's not funny stuff anymore. They cannot be dismissed as just crazies on the fringe anymore. All it takes is just one. You know, look at the Boston Globe article from a few weeks ago that says the threat level faced by the Secret Service has gone up 400%, higher than any other time in 52 years, for any president, Democrat or Republican. These are no longer jokes.

Lol.  That's pretty good.  Hadn't seen that before.

And it's not exactly a death threat.  Perhaps it's more like wishful thinking on the part of most Americans.  To play it safe, Obama should avoid Joe Bidens motorcade!

So the question was "Who is Brent?"

I would say he is like an Evangelical Homer Simpson...him too stoopid to know that "That's Pretty Good"....means he accepts all the Religious Hatred as his own....what an absolute hypocrite...if Jesus existed he would be rolling over in his grave....

What is worse?

To wish death for someone...or to be indecisive about troop levels in a war zone?   How many widows and fatherless kids are their due to Obummers indecisiveness?
Like most Americans I believe that we either need to listen to the generals and increase boots on the ground in Afghanistan...or we need to withdraw.

Afghanistan has been a problem for decades...why is it solely Obama's fault?...Its not...I bet Noah could slay you with volumes of facts that point to your own party's fault; and not like "oops, we fucked up trying to do the right thing"....no, we are talking blatant and intentional action to cause problems in the Mid East.

Boy that just rings so vastly hollow. Especially after the Republicans not only championed and cheered on the unjust Iraqi war wasting thousands of lives, and refusing to take any measure to end the war, but also ignoring the genocides that occured elsewhere in the world, because of their lack of profitable resources. Talk to the hand. And it's even more hollow to talk about listening to the generals when whenever Bush didn't like what a general had to say he would fire that general and get another one who would tell him what he wanted to hear. Just pathetic. And thanks for proving Alex's point, God-Freaks are disgusting. Lowest forms of life on the planet.

Remember Vietnam?  Of course you don't, as you were just playing with toys as the war ended adn as a conservative you could care less about history.

We sent thousands of troops to support the corrupt and inefffective political leadership in South Vietnam.  How'd that work out for us?  Everyone looks back at Vietnam as a big blight for our military, but you know what?  Our military never lsot a battle.  Not one.  TThe generals said, "We'll go ehre, here, here and wipe out the Viet Cong with our superior fire power."  And, of course, they always needed more troops.

How'd that work out for us?

So, big surprise, the military leaders are asking for more troops!  Why am I not surprised?  The only way I'd be surprised is if more troosp were offered and the generals said "Nah, that's cool, we don't need them."  Of course they say they're going to need more troops.  But you say, "Obama needs to listen to the troops" and then you say some retarded bullshit about widows and fatherless children,. ignoring the fact that sending more troops in will likely increase the numbers of widows and fatherless children.  Solid logic there.  But maybe you're right, maybe Obama should listen to generals.  Such as General Karl Eikenberry, the retired general who was the top military commander in Afghanistan and is the current ambassador to Afghanistan, who says, "No, not at all, not a single soldier should be sent to fight and die" for the current Afghan government.  A single soldier who gives his life for Karzai is one too many.

So, yes this is a "war of necessity."  I'm glad that our Commander-in-Chief is ignoring the opinions of you and everyone else who has their head stuck squarely up their ass and figuring out the correct strategy to find a satisfactory solution to such a necessary war.  This war is far too important to fuck up, like the preceding President who wanted to play G.I. Joe with real soldiers, and made a huge fucking mess out of everything.

Or, you know, Bush who was fucking clueless about playing GI Joe with real people that he recklessly plowed into an unnecessary war, thus denying attention and resources away from the necessary one.

I could argue- correctly- that Shrub's reckless disregard for Afghanistan led to the death of the soldier from Ferndale.  Not to mention the thousands of war widows and fatherless children whose fathers died in Iraq.  And who you cast a vote for, twice.  So, kindly, pull your head out of your ass.

You know what's really funny?  You having the gumption to toss around the word "incompetent."  Hilarious.  Truly.  Too bad Shrub's incompetence led to the loss of multiple buildings in the heart of our country's financial district, the loss of pretty much the entire metropolitan area of one of the oldest cities in North American, and of course the previously mentioned deaths of thousands of American soldiers.

Actually, as a conservative, you are an expert on 'incompetence' after all...

Oh, is Palin the new co-host on Hannity? That's pretty much all I ever pictured her career to be, another Fox News host. Or was she just visiting the set for an interview duing her book tour? And Bill O'Reilly has Palin for the rest of the week. Well, if she is going to spend that much time at Fox News she might as well move in.

I guess it doesn't matter since Fox News has been officially classified by the White House as not a new organization. Even Fox News's senior vice-president Michael Clemente said that the station's news hours are from 9am-4pm & 6-8pm, so even by their own standards anything after 8pm is not news. This of course puts MSNBC in the number one slot for news, and the only thing ahead of MSNBC are entertainment shows.

Yep, exactly, you nailed it. Why that's funny I don't know. There are more facts in a half hour in one of those MSNBC shows than an entire week of all the Fox shows combined. Or do I need to post ever lie said by O'Reilly, Hannity, Beck, Greta & Baier? For one, every night each Fox news hosts talk about the health care reform will be government take over - not true, will cost the tax payers more and increase the deficit - totally not true, and will create rationing of health care by having a bureaucrat determine who gets what care - absolutely misleading, unless they are describing private health, except the gov's option will be affordable.

Obama has hard decisions to make on Afghanistan, and they should not be made in haste or spuriously. He has these hard decisions to make because of the poor, often rash decisions of his predecessor. Protest as you will, Brent, that some Ferngully kid died because of Obama's indicision, you know that it was the long course of action and inaction by Bush that put that boy in that position.

Maybe if Shrub had more troops in Afghanistan than were stationed in Alaska, said prison break wouldn't have occurred.

But I guess such things would happen when you all but ignore an active battlefield that you're supposed to be operating as as a 'war president' who's playing GI Joe.

That prison break came as a result of people knowing that Obama was going to be president in a few months.

If we'd killed bin Laden at Tora Bora would we still need to be in Afgh. today? I guarantee you we wouldn't be there. Bush outsourced that attack to the Northern Alliance, only a couple of dozen CIA and special forces were present. Bin Laden got out of there by paying off a N. Alliance general for $10 million. He was one the ropes, believing that death was imminent, and we pulled our punch. A monumental failure, and one that Bush hasn't taken nearly the heat for that he should have. Though I'm sure Brent brings it up all the time.

But perhaps Bush didn't want to get bin Laden. If bin Laden is killed in Tora Bora we don't get a huge ramping up of defense spending, we don't get the Iraq war, we don't get all kinds of goodies that benefitted Bush cronies.

Believe me, at some point this will become Obama's war, and at that point he will have to answer for his decisions. But at this point he's just the guy who got stuck with the mop after the frat boy puked all over aisle 6.

Our Congress did not take a vote to be there as directed by Article V in the Constitution! If we are at war with the Taliban, why are we in Afghanistan? Why are we at war with the Taliban? Because we don't like their policies  or religious beliefs? Why then have we not attacked certain African nations or North Korea? Is it the policy of America to attack those nations about which there is something we don't like? Is that what America is about? Was that a principal of our founding fathers? Yes, thanks I saw that... if you track our casualties in Afghanistan month by month you'll notice that July of '08 was a lot worse than any of the 24 previous months.  So you stop and ask what changed?  And an immediate answer is that there was a significant jail break in June of '08 and 1000 of the worst escaped and not surprisingly many want revenge on the army that had been holding them.

If Obummer does withdraw all troops, war historians will look back on this June '08 prison break as the turning point in the war.
