Subject: Does JQuery Handle to Window
Lets says if i open a  browser window using File -> New -> Window.
I am wondering if Jquery creates a handle or reference to the browser
window and stores it in Jquery Object.
This kind of information will be very helpful to detect if browser has
multiple windows opened.
Please let me know if its possible to do with Jquery

No, it is not possible.  Unless you're writing a FireFox extension or
something along those lines.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for response. I highly appreciate it.
The reason i asked that question was to support multiple browser
windows. As Java Server Faces i.e. JSF view technology doesnt support
multiple browser windows, we designed a workaround to see if its
possible thru Javascript Jquery  to detect multiple browser windows
and give a alert message to the user and close the other window.  I
read the Jquery docs and played with API methods but couldn't find
anything related so I have kind of hit the roadblock.
Any pointers/suggestions on how to resolve multiple browser windows
issue will be greatly appreciated

Well, I think it's really a pointless exercise.  Unless your code
created the other tab (via window.open()) then there is no way for you
to detect, control, or close any other tab.  You should think of them
as completely external to your application (which they are) and
therefore something you do not, and should not, have access to.
