Dynamically add new series?

I'm trying to figure out if this is possible or supported.

Let's say I have a jqPlot chart initialized and displaying two time series. I'm using the AJAX data renderer, FWIW.

Based on user input, I want to add a new series (or multiple series) to the chart? Is this possible? Is it possible without refetching all the data?
