Hi all,

I've just read in another forum that AFJP/GPS/Circa drummer Jay
Schellen has reunited with his former 90's hard rock band Unruly Child
and are currently recording a new album. Given this info, does he
remain as part of AFJP and GPS ? Anyone knows his status with the
band ? Thanks,

Gerardo (Crusader)

I think the truth of it is that in order to earn anything like a living from
music these days you have to be a 'portfolio' musician, with a number of
interests - look @ Billy Sherwood himself - solo activity, tribute albums,
CIRCA, Yoso, Headsets (with Jim Ladd) etc etc!

So, I don't think we should read too much into it at this stage. Tho' I'd be
really sad to lose him from AFJP - he's one of the best drummers they've
ever had. & he really knows how to mike it up for recording.

Best to you all!

Please forgive my ignorance, who is Unruly Child? I've never heard of
them and I listen to a lot of obscure music. I know Jay was in a hard
rock/hair metal band called Hurricane in the 80's with current
Foreigner lead singer Kelly Hansen. They weren't too popular but they
made some good music.

Unruly Child was related to World Trade, essentially being World Trade
without Billy Sherwood. Bruce Gowdy, Guy Allison, and Jay Schellen
were joined by Mark Free (vocals) and Larry Antonino (bass). They
released one album in 1992 which was much more in a hard rock/hair
band style, then they splintered. A second UC album was released in
1998 by Bruce and Jay, entitled "Waiting for the Sun," now with Jay's
old Hurricane bandmate, Kelly Hansen (vocals). Kelly's now the lead
singer in Foreigner, and the music is very much in that style. A
third disc, UCIII, was released in 2002 with Bruce and Guy this time
joined by singer Philip Bardowell (who is now recording with
Foreigner's Bruce Turgon in the band "Places of Power"). I think
UCIII is the weakest of the three.
I'm looking forward to this reunion.

Unruly Child made 4 CDs that I know of and included Bruce Gowdy, who was in World Trade, with Billy Sherwood, of course.

There was a fourth UC disc, called "Basement Demos," with tracks that
were originally intended for a follow-up to their first album.
