Chat Sessions 2.0

Greetings everyone,

regarding the chat sessions that Jeri has talked about, I volunteered myself to do something about it, and that "something" (althought still unfinished) is functional at least. It's based on a little fan site I built, that has a few nice features for users like us.

 

Strictly regarding the chat sessions, I thought it would be better if, apart of having our own chat room, it would be really cool if we could somehow have a listening party, with everyone listening to the same thing, so that the chat gets more fun and interesting, so I started to research about broadcasting options. I found a reliable way to do this, and I've been testing it successfully throughout the last couple of days. I don't know what do you guys think about that idea, I think it's a great one. You only need an audio player like Winamp, Windows media Player, VLC, etc, and then you can join. So far I can only reach 32 users, but i think it might be enough for our chat sessions.

 

Well, enough talking, this is the website i created:  http://asiagps.setimusic.cl  and the chat option can be reached at the left menu.

 

So, the next step is to define how often the chat sessions will be. I think it would be nice to have a go at it weekly, saturday perhaps, around afternoon (EST) so that Californian and European people can also join.  I was thinking about something like Saturdays 2 to 5 pm (EST)

 

Any comment?

I was wondering what that site was for.  Not too much on it now, but I guess it's still being developed.  I haven't done a chat room in a long time.  At least this one will be safe.

I finally managed to sell my extra copy of Extended Versions at my usual store along with a few other things.  I suppose you all have it already.  Claudio, I bought some Marillion imports with the store credit.

Yeah, I'm testing the "live radio" system right now, it will be on on auto pilot, so anything could sound. Winamp, itunes, windows media should be able to open it, you can test it at http://liveradio.selfip.com

Now that I have more time, I could elaborate about John's comments about the fansite. Since asiaworld.org ceased to exist, I got increasingly frustrated with the theasiaband.com website. (JPM and GPS sites in the other hand look great) In my humble opinion, the current AFJP site looks amateurish, very good in terms of delivering information, but I think that could be done in a lot more elegant way, so I said to myself "why not doing something nicer?" JP and all of the people who carried that flag for so many years deserve a lot more than a generic wordpress blog.

 

My intention from now, is to add more information to the site (a completely track-by-track list of musicians on the Aqua album has been something I've always wanted to see, and now it seems like a good way to achieve that, obviously with your help guys) Picture galleries from anyone who would like to lend those pics, maybe tour dates and the most relevant news. Plus of course a place for us to interact with each other live (the chat room)
