Dear Friends of Religious Education,
This edition of JPD Lifespan Faith Development News includes an
announcement about the high school WinterCon, an announcement about
the "Staff Team Training" workshop, encouragement to potential leaders
for the JPD Spring Conference and Annual Meeting, and reminders of the
resources available for download from the JPDLFD Google Group.
WinterCon
The Joseph Priestley District Youth Steering Committee has moved their
social justice-themed WinterCon to January 25-27. The host
congregation will be Mount Vernon Unitarian Church in Alexandria, VA.
Keep an eye on
http://jpdysc.org/ for updates about the con. It's
never too early to submit Adult Advisors forms for adults who would
like to be cleared to sponsor youth at cons. Go to
http://jpdysc.org
and click on "Adult Advisors" to download the form. For more
information about JPD Youth Ministries, contact Kathy Smith by e-
mailing
ka...@jpduua.org.
Staff Team Training
Staff Team Training is a workshop offered once a year for professional
staff working together in congregations. This year, the training will
be offered on-line as well as in person. Save the date January 10 for
the on-line version or January 16 for the live version in Wilmington,
DE. Rev. Dr. Richard Speck, District Executive, and I (Rev. Lyn Cox,
Acting Director for Lifespan Faith Development) will co-facilitate
this workshop. Look for registration forms coming soon.
JPD Spring Conference
The JPD Intergenerational Spring Conference and Annual Meeting will be
held March 28-30 in Bethesda, MD. The JPD staff is eagerly seeking
volunteers who can help make this conference fabulous. If you would
like to ensure quality programming for elementary-age children or
middle school youth, please e-mail me at
l...@jpduua.org. Volunteers
receive partial reimbursement for registration proportional to their
hours of service. Volunteers who serve for the entire length of the
conference plus planning time also receive partial reimbursement for
their hotel room. Contact me before December 21 for best
consideration. If you are interested in offering a workshop for
children, youth, or adults, check the December packet for the workshop
proposal form. Workshop proposals are due January 2 at noon.
Resources on JPDLFD Google Group
Be sure to check
http://groups.google.com/group/jpdlfd for resources
available for download. New resources include notes from the "Support
Structures for Professional Religious Educators" workshop I led for
the Greater Washington Area RE Council. Back by popular demand, I've
also posted my notes from the Liberal Religious Educators Association
Fall Conference, where the new Tapestry of Faith curriculum project
was unveiled. Is there a document you'd like to see posted on the
Google Group? Let me know. We've still got plenty of room.
