Subject: I just got censored on Tripod - Can you say "arbitrary"?

Sent to the Tripod Staff: A message which you'll find posted in a
number of public locations.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----------------

One can find a slightly outdated backup copy of my Tripod site, which
I was shocked to find had been deleted, at this location

http://www.freewebs.com/josephdunphy/

As all can see for themselves, there is nothing on this site that
comes even remotely close to violating Tripod's TOS, so imagine my
amazement when I went to my site and found that it had been removed,
its removal marked with a notice that my site had been removed for
"abuse".

What abuse? I heard absolutely nothing from the staff and when I tried
to write to ask them about what was going on, I found that the system
pointed me in the direction of a form that the system then wouldn't
let me submit. "You need to use this form to ask us why your account
is no longer working, but we won't let you use it because your account
has been deactivated. Catch 22. Isn't that cute?"

Not really. "Grossly unprofessional" is more like it. "Yes, but Joe,
you say that the backup was out of date. There's the deal - it's that
risque material you put on since the last backup". Oh, yes. Like those
pictures, snapped with my hands, of the 2007 Chrysanthemum Show at the
Lincoln Park Conservatory in Chicago. Then there was the small blog I
had going in which I discussed some youtube videos about the tasering
incident in Florida and the Star Simpson case at MIT. All told,
material that at the very worst would struggle to even claim a PG
rating.

So would anybody from Tripod care to tell me what is going on, or is
this kind of cowardly backstabbing of a user how Tripod believes in
doing business? Followed by silence as support goes scurrying into the
dark, hoping that the issue will just go away? Because trust me guys,
I'm not going to let this one go, ever. This is completely outrageous.

----------

Oh, I forgot to mention this:

 My site was located at

http://commonsense666atlast.tripod.com/

before it was arbitrarily censored / deleted by staff. As I said, you
can find a slightly out of date backup here

 http://www.freewebs.com/josephdunphy

Oh, and I don't want to hear anything that sounds even remotely like
"you can start another site". I did nothing wrong on my old site and
the staff knows it. Go check out the copy and you'll know it, too,
unless you are scandalised by the sight of chrysanthemums, for some
reason. The question I'm left with is just how much trust the staff
deserves.

Right now, I'm left thinking "maybe not that much". Did I mention that
they did not say so much as a word to me before or after deleting my
site without reason?

-------------------------------------

End of message. Let's see if anybody over at Tripod is man enough to
reply.
