Hi Julie,
Is it a new site or did it work before and just stopped working?
Have you checked in your site configuration to see if your php or send mail
settings are correct?

If everything was working fine before then you need to find out from your
host if they have changed anything with regards to php or their smtp server.

If they have not changed anything then you ned to figure out what was
installed or changed on the site since it last worked properly.

Good luck,
David

Hello Julie,

You are getting this message because you have either not set up the Email
Settings in Joomla! Global Configuration or they are incorrect.

To resolve this issue, I recommend setting up Joomla to use SMTP rather than
the PHP mail function().

You are on a local server (using WAMP for example)

This kind of web server does not have a mail server so you can't send
e-mails from your local server.

Your ISP has blocked access to PHP mail function().

Spam is on the rise big time and simply allowing web application to send
email is not a good thing.
Forcing a user to use SMTP gives service providers a level of control and
monitoring.

What's the solution? use an external SMTP server instead of using the PHP
mail function(). This will work on your live server

Mark Brindley

Changing the email settings as per your first paragraph did the trick.

Thanks David.

You are right.  The fault was in the configuration.

Kind regards
