Here is some history and background information about what has taken place
with proposed leadership structure changes up to now:
*1. Initial proposal - July 2011*
At the joint leadership summit in San Jose, CA, members from PLT, CLT, and
OSM spent most of the final day discussing how to potentially improve
Joomla's leadership structure. The agreed upon next steps were to write a
blog summarizing the proposed changes and invite feedback from the
community.

2. Leadership Blog - September 2011*
A blog was drafted that summarized the proposed leadership structure
changes that came out of the joint summit in San Jose. All leadership team
members had the opportunity to review the draft and provide input. After
all input was received and revisions made, the blog was published here
(including links to translations in 11 other languages):

*3. JPeople Discussion - September through November 2011*
There was a long public discussion about various aspects of the proposed
leadership structure changes that took place here:

*4. Public leadership email list followup thread #1 - October - December
2011:*
Following the JPeople discussion, the main options for potential next steps
were summarized posted to the public leadership email list with a request
for discussion and a vote. Five leadership team members participated in
that thread, so there was not felt to be enough participation to move

*5. Public leadership email list followup thread #2 - February - March 2012:

A new public leadership email thread was started asking for a vote to
either revisit these discussions face to face at a followup joint
leadership summit, choose one of the options given in the previous public
leadership list email thread, or just let the idea for proposed changes
die. The most interest was to revisit the discussions face to face at a
followup joint leadership summit, and there was also support along with no
objections to the idea of forming a working group to come up with
recommendations that leaders could discuss and make a final decsion about

*6. Working group formed - March 2012*
You all are requested to put together some recommendations on the subject
of proposed leadership structure changes that will serve as a starting
point for discussions planned for the upcoming joint leadership summit in
Germany on May 21-22. The goal at that joint leadership summit will be for
leadership to make a decision about whether to implement any leadership
structure changes, and if it is agreed to implement changes, what those
changes will consist of.
