As everyone probably as seen, the Summer of Code has been announced by
Google (see http://code.google.com/soc/2008/) for more details.
The schedule is pretty ambitious, and with the past period being
swamped with releases and GHOP we have not done any preparations yet.
This of course is not a real big problem, we have done this more then
once, but we also need to think on what we want to achieve this year,
and more important how we are going to get there. The first step is
getting (potential) mentors together, and from there on shape the SoC
program. Those who have been involved know how inspiring this program
can be, for those who have never participated as mentor I can only
invite you to be part of this years Summer Of Code.
Those who are interested, please put up your (virtual) finger.
For those who are interested, please read
http://code.google.com/soc/2008/faqs.html#0.1_mentoring_orgs to get a
feeling what it takes. There will be a 2008 SoC subforum created asap,
and there I will post some guideliness for the program (basically a
summary of the Google wiki). If you have any question regarding the
Summer Of Code program, feel free to contact me at any time.
I would like to be a mentor but I am not yet sure if I will be able to dedicate the time that is required. Can you put me down as a maybe and then we can talk about it more when it comes time to get into it?

I'm new to this, but I'd say the same as Rob said: Count me as a candidate for mentoring...
Thanks,
Mati

Unfortunately I won't be able to help either. Our companies have been
growing fast and we are already having a difficult time responding to
the demands. We have also started GPL projects of our own that need to
be launched soon. Perhaps next year, when we settle down a bit.
