User profile plugin problem (Joomla 1.6)

Hello,

First of all I am new to this group and I would like to greet you all.

I was following the tutorial located here:

http://docs.joomla.org/Creating_a_profile_plugin

When I go to Users - User Manager, I see on the right side the new
"User Profile 5". Enter a value, click save. But it does not appear in
the form after the save, nor later. It's always emtpy.

I've tryied to debug the code, the value is saved in the database,
it's retreived but it does not appear in the text field, value is "".
And I couldn't find exaclty where is passed to the form.

I must mention that the original plugin that comes with Joomla is
working just fine and I am running Joomla 1.6.1 on a XAMMP server,
latest version.

Maybe somebody is so nice to give me a hint or just attach a working
version from this tutorial, although, to make sure, I've just did a
copy paste job.

Any answer to the question below ?

I have the same problem when activating the 'standard' Profile plugin, the
data is being saved, it shows up in the database, but it won't on the site
in the profile or in the user manager.
Unitl I understand the 'standard' plugin I can't move on with creating my
own.

After following the tutorial...same result, it saves OK, but it won't return
the value.

Sorry,

Found the problem and it was an error on my side...all working fine now, so
I can concentrate on tweaking the tutorial to my own needs.

Alfred,

It helps if you explain the error so other people know when they read this in the future.

Also if you can add any useful tips to the wiki page please do.
