Hey guys,

Just wanted to post this tool I made, a Joomla component creator. Only creates the administrator side of the component but it is fully installable for Joomla 2.5/3.0. Hopefully it'll help someone, because I hate having to create a file structure every time I start a new component. I would love some feedback. Thanks!

Okay, I see that. Should be fixed now. Thanks.

Nice work, I'll delve into the generated code when I get the chance.  I'm sure this will assist my learning of Joomla!.  I did notice your manifest update schema doesn't have a final forward slash?  I'm not sure if this is necessary but I had to place one on my components to get the update to work.  At least thats what I've been accepting as the case.  ie <schemapath type="mysql">sql/updates/mysql/</schemapath>.  Great work anyway.  Cheers.

Thanks Glenn. I didn't know that but will add that fix. And I appreciate all the feedback once you do take a look at it. It's all MVC.

Hopefully it will help you learn how everything works.

Hi Caleb,

Nice job on creating that! :)

In case you didn't know, there are a few other similar projects. Two in
particular that I was thinking of are:

1) EasyCreator:
http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/miscellaneous/development/5908

2) The "sui generis" Component Creator :)
http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/tools/webbased-tools/7627

Kind regards,
Nick

Hi Nick,

We develop the Component Creator mentioned in 2)

I have never heard the term "sui generis" so I looked it up. I am still a little confused what you mean by it. Just curious :-)

Thanks,

Soren

Caleb,

I re did the component after the array_key_exists error and all went well until I added a record. Once I hit save I got a view not found error so I incremented the version to 0.0.2 and added the slash on the schemapath that Glen pointed out re-installed and no success...

I would try to uninstall the component and then try it again. It does have the upgrade ability in the install file but might just want to try it from scratch again. It is installing fine for me in 2.5 and 3.0. Let me know what you find out.

Hi Mark,

I didn't know it was on Joomla 3.0. That does install but has a few errors because of legacy, I do need to fix that still. Thanks

Hi Soren,

I was using a bit of humor. The one Caleb had created was named the same
as one that already exists (i.e. yours). I hope you understand now :)

Kind regards,
Nick
