module caching

hello all!

i am new to development so i believe for most of you the answer to my question will be very common.
i recently downloaded module that displays thumbnails of certain images. this module doesn't have implemented caching option, but i would like that to speed up my site a little bit.
i already put this code in xml file of the module:
<param name="cache" type="list" default="1" label="Caching" description="Select whether to cache the content of this module">
      <option value="1">Use global</option>
      <option value="0">No caching</option>
</param>
but it just doesn't work well enough. there can be seen that some cache was created, but the images (thumbnails) still aren't cached. i know this because i am using lazy loader and the thumbnails are loaded everytime i reload my page.
oh, and i am using Joomla! 1.5.

Hi Nick,

Thanks for the answer. I was looking at this exact tutorial, when I put the code mentioned above in the XML file. It is also written at the end of an article.
And after this, the images are not caching. So I was wondering, if there is anything else, that I don't know about, how to implement cache for module?
Is there anything else I can do?
